“I was thrilled to see this particular model at Sierra Trading Post. I am an avid year round hiker and wanted a sporty yet stylish jacket that I could wear in the woods and around town as well. Wool in the mix is a plus for me. I love the cut of the collar and hood that allows me to have the zipper all the way up and not feel choked. It looks cool too. The logo is nice and subtle. Wearing this jacket helps me forget that I'll shortly be turning forty yet I don't feel like I'm trying to look 22. They only had a 2XL and I'm an XL but I couldn't pass up the price. I have no regrets. Considering I'm wearing one size too big, the fit works for me because the cut is close to the body. At one size up, I can wear a sweater underneath and not feel like a sausage. That said, unless you expect to spend some inactive time outside I don't think you would need the extra layer. So far, I have hiked in 12 degree F weather with just a base layer and still had to ventilate. It is very warm. The sleeves are a bit on the long side but it is a 2XL, and it is mitigated by the snap that allows you to pleat the sleeves close to your wrist. The large hand warmer pockets are well thought out, with the openings at about a 25 degree to horizontal angle so that there is less risk of items falling out. I expect that if I had the correct size they might be to high for comfortable use but I don't really keep my hands in my pockets anyway. The vertical chest pocket is the right size for a phone or Ipod without aloowing too much bulk or sliding about. I would prefer plastic zippers that move a little more smoothly but the trade-off would be in its strength. I assume in Europe the zippers are attached on the left side and connect to the right, which here in the U.S. takes a little re-wiring to get used to. I have found that I have to take the jacket off for long car rides as it gets HOT quickly. I cannot speak to its durability yet as it's still relatively new and I have not had the opportunity to take a spill on a trail yet but it is soon coming I suspect. I would definitely recommend this jacket if you want an outdoors active uniquely styled yet useful jacket.”
