Alico |
| Nestled within the Italian Alps, the Dolomites are known for jagged peaks and deep crevasses that have challenged climbers for centuries. Alico boots are crafted by artisans who have perfected their craft in this awe-inspiring region. The rugged terrain has inspired an equally rugged line of boots designed for cross country skiing, telemarking and trekking. Alico boots are made from oil-tanned, water resistant leather with moisture-wicking linings and state-of-the-art comfort. So whether your outdoor sport takes you to nosebleed altitudes or below-timberline trails, Italian-made Alico boots provide the stability, torsion control and traction your feet need to make it to trail’s end. |

Classic boots, break them in
By trail traveler from Princeton, NJ on 7/7/2008
Pros:
Ankle Support, Great Traction
Cons:
No cusion in insoles, Not Water Resistant, Too Stiff/Not Flexible
Best Uses:
Day Hiking, Light Loads
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: I use these for day hiking doing 8-12 miles with a 10-15 pound backpack. They are very well made and I like the fact that they don't have Gore-Tex. I've had terrible luck with boots lately, but these seem like keepers. For the full leather version, make sure you break them in *very* well before taking them on a major trip. I did not and developed heal blisters on a trip to Switzerland. Also, the stock insoles are terrible--no cushion or arch support--so plan on replacing them.

Pros:
Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable
Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: These boots are true quality and value. You do not find much of anything these days that is made like these boots. A little heavy but very comfortable with little break-in required. They are really built to last a lifetime. I have not had the opportunity to put them to a real test, but plan to this weekend. The only suggestion that I would make for improvement is a better insole.

Pros:
Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, They fit, Water Resistant
Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Casual/Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: I liked them so much I bought a second pair! I have a wide foot, and I've found that a 10.5 EE is what I need - these really fit. Really nicely well-made, not TOO heavy but thick enough to give good support and foot protection.
