It all began one day in 1774 when a German cobbler named Johann Birkenstock registered as "shoemaker" and sparked a family tradition that would come to change the shoe industry forever. One hundred years later, Konrad Birkenstock invented the contoured cork and latex foot bed, the first to follow the natural shape of the foot. I wear a 6.5 normally, and It says to order a size smaller then you usually wear. I ordered a 36 (narrow-when I tried these on in the store they were way too wide.)

They take a bit of breaking in as do all birkenstocks but now that my feet are molded to them, they've never been happier.
I think in future I'll get clogs with a full front covering for more foot support, but these look really cute.

I did as they recommended and I find the shoes fit very well. I am very pleased with them and will be wearing them a lot. I think Sierra Trading Post was right on with its sizing comment and other comments about this shoe.
