Leather is comparatively soft.

They are well insulated but not too heavy. Leave it to S.T.P. to offer them at a great price. I work primarily on wet cold cement floors so foot warmth is crucial. Thick padded insoles are very nice as well and add to comfort. Not for the tropics but if you work in cool or cold weather these boots should fit the bill.
