Earth shoes were inspired by Yoga devotee Anne Kalso, who believed most modern footwear to be incompatible with the natural alignment of our bodies. Anne knew that the foot was designed to tread soft surfaces like sand or dirt, but perhaps not the concrete walkways of today. I have a very narrow heel but wide toe area & I've had to send back many shoes because they weren't narrow enough around the heel. These were nearly perfect. The only criticism I would have is that the footbed is not removable so it can't be removed for orthotics. All in all, it's a good shoe.
