An introduction to the merino wool that would later launch his business wasn’t something the founder of Icebreaker expected from a 1994 meeting with a New Zealand sheep farmer. But when he felt the merino wool, he realized its lightweight, non-scratchy and washable warmth was a great alternative to both synthetic fabrics and traditional wool for clothing items like long underwear and performance shirts. It is slightly itchier than my other wool baselayer, but has a nicer fit. The sleeves are long which is perfect for my long arms. The price for merino wool is the best I've come across.
