Luminox |
| In 1989, Luminox founder Barry Cohen brought a unique Swiss-designed, self-powered illumination system into the mainstream watch market, now called "Luminox Light Technology." This innovative, self-powered gas capsule illumination system will actually glow continuously in a watch for more than 25 years and requires no outside light source to "charge," unlike traditional luminescent watch materials. In fact, Luminox watches are so reliable and well made, they are chosen by elite branches of the US armed forces, from Stealth aircraft pilots to SEAL dive teams. If you insist on the quality of a Luminox watch but don’t want to pay full price for one, shop Sierra Trading Post for an ever-changing selection of Luminox watches. |

By fred from boston, ma on 06/29/2009 Describe Yourself: Athletic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: would be better if crown was screw down vs pull out
By Phil from New Jersey on 06/23/2009 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Looks Nice, Stylish Describe Yourself: High End Shopper, Pilot, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The battery was DOA on the first watch I ordered, then the replacement watch arrived, and that battery was dead as well! I gave up and went with a Casio Wave-Ceptor WVA-M240DE-1BVER, as it meets my occupational needs.
Good value. Nice looking. Accurate By Tim the rower from San Jose, CA on 06/14/2009 Pros: Easy to read, Extra features, Good Quality, Reliable, Stylish Describe Yourself: Athletic, Classic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have observed the same problem in other Luminox watches: their second hands don't line up with the indices in parts of the dial. It's not a major problem--just noticeable to sticklers like some of us. But the price is an excellent value, especially when compared to other tritium-vial watches. Handsome looks, sturdy case and incredible readability in low- or no-light conditions. The 24-hour hand is a nice extra feature. There are double tritium indicators at 12 o'clock which makes it even easier to read. So far, after a few weeks, the timekeeping is top notch: less than a second fast.
