About Oxford Blue

Oxford, England is known the world over for its historic buildings, highly regarded university and famed rowing competitions on the river Thames. It’s an idyllic location except for one little detail… the weather… which is notoriously foggy, damp and often downright beastly. Oxford Blue is the answer to those wet, dreary days. Employing traditional waxed cotton methods that have kept watermen, farmers and urbanites warm and dry for decades, Oxford Blue’s waxed outerwear sheds water as easily as a duck. It’s also naturally breathable and wind resistant. So whether you sail the waters of Glouces ...Read More

Not the Quality of a Barbour By I.M. Maven from New York, NY on 11/14/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a decent quality jacket, but not the quality of a Barbour. (I've owned 2 Barbours that were made in the UK. I can't speak for the quality of new Barbours made outside of the UK.) I compared this Oxford Blue jacket to my wife's Barbour. Barbour's snaps are built better, Barbour sewing appears to be sturdier (thread, stitch, etc), and Barbour's wax finish is superior. The Oxford Blue has a wax finish, but there's not very much wax applied. I guess one could add wax, but there's no instruction about doing that. (The Barbour's we've owned come with wax and a set of instructions.) The bottom line is that it's okay for the price. And even though its list price is comparable to Barbour, the quality and look are not.I would only recommend this jacket if one could buy it for under $100 as I did.
By Doug from Omaha on 10/27/2009 Pros: Durable, Good Cut, Versatile Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Generally very pleased with jacket ... with two caveats. The zipper is sometimes difficult to start and it occasionally gets stuck. The corduroy collar has little or no lining and needs to be straightened or flattened after you put on the jacket. I also have a Barbour jacket of similar design (the gold standard??). The Oxford Blue jacket compares favorably with the Barbour ... except for the two issues listed above.
By Steve from Columbus on 10/21/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As a day in day coat this is perfect. Plenty of pockets, good fit and has a classic look.
