By Kevin T. from Ft. Washington, MD on 11/12/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Warm Cons: Liner sheds, Small hand warmer pockets Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have been searching for a good coat that is both warm and stylish. My experience has been that the traditional double breasted overcoats are not warm, and often can be too dressy. Though I wear a shirt and tie, I don't often wear a jacket on weekdays. I searched on several upscale stores and did not see a better coat for the price. I kept coming back to this coat. I also went to various stores searching for a good winter coat.
I was happy I read comments about size before I purchased mine. I wear a 42-43 suit jacket. The 46 is perfect.
excellent coat , excellent style By ribking from Weston, CT on 11/11/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this instead of the Aston double breasted coat and am very happy - small details like these pockets were shearling lined vs unlined and have a second set of pockets made a difference. The styling with the 3/4 zipper is very nice and frankly with the buttons, a full length zipper would be redundant.

Most of the Other Posters Were Right! By Some Guy in VA from Hampton Roads, VA on 06/03/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut Best Uses: Bad Weather, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second Aston coat; I purchased the Spanish Suede Parka/w Hood some time last month. Both coat are gorgeous. My only issue for this one is the that the zipper ends about 3/4 shy of the top as stated by a prior poster. Overall this is an amazing value given the price. I can't attest to it's warmth because of the timing of my purchase but I'm extremely excited about giving it a full workout at first opportunity.
By Frequent Buyer in Santa Fe from Santa Fe NM on 03/04/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Fine workmanship, Good Cut, Luxe, Warm Best Uses: Cold weather of course, Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a size 44 since other reviewers commented on the close cut in sizing -- it's perfect, allows any amount of underlayering, etc., (plus I'm lifting weights and working out so my chest is still getting bigger! lol) Excellent shearling (close trimmed instead of longer pile) and lambsuede yields a coat without a lot of bulk but with the warmth of shearling. The black color yields a gray shearling inside and on the collar, not a dark black -- but that's just a difference from the catalogue picture.
Aston quality, great styling, removable shearling hood, an elegant and also casual coat depending on how one wears it and with what.
And a bargain at closeout pricing at STP -- this is the second long Aston shearling coat I've bought --- just couldn't not take advantage of this offer and further discounts! Thanks, STP!

I wish I could wear it myself. My fiance complains that it is very heavy (I personally like heavy, since I know it is real thing). He drove me almost up to tears while driving and wearing coat, because it was too bulky... But I think at the end he agreed to keep it!!! :) It looks sooooooooooo classy on him! So expensive! And, it is soooooo warm! I think it worth every penny!

By RWW from Syracuse, NY on 01/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this work days when I need to dress MORE THAN casually, so that my coat fits the clothing I'm wearing. There's no question that this coat has a Madison Avenue look about it. I've worn it during a week in January of FRIGID weather. Since the cut is narrow (abdominal and sleeve circumferences), I found out the first day that wearing a sweater underneath would be too confining, so thereafter I wore the coat over only a short sleeve shirt. To my delight, it is warm enough in sub-zero weather that a sweater is not needed. It's difficult to break that habit, since all of my other winter coats require an underlayer, but this coat does not, even in sub-zero with a brisk wind. HOWEVER, I rated this product four stars only for the following reasons: 1) the cut is more narrow than I'm used to; I'm of average size, I purchased a size 44 which I thought would be on the large size, and now I wish I'd bought a size 46; 2) the zipper is set too low by about 8 inches, meaning, if you zip it up, when you climb in your car it's like wearing a dress, while simultaneously it ends too far below the neck, so I never wear this coat without also wearing a scarf. I've taken to not using the zipper at all, and just using the buttons. It's nice knowing the zipper is there, however, if I'm ever in a bind and truly need the extra measure. The hood of the coat fits perfectly, unlike that of my other coats which are inevitably too big and block my eyes while walking. Bottom line: I feel like a million bucks while wearing this coat. It is as good looking in real life as it is in the advertisement photo, and is VERY COMFORTABLE, and compensates for the agony of Upstate New York winter weather.
