Alas, my calf is too wide for them. I suspected that might be the case. Anyone with muscles should be cautious! (I ordered a 1/2 size up and that worked pretty well.)

I make an exception for these boots because they are waterproof, and beautiful in silhouette, and I am weak. I will wear them with padded wool or Coolmax running socks as the footbed is very hard. Owing to the long, narrow toe, I ordered them in an 8.5 instead of the usual 7M. (Thanks to previous shoppers for suggesting this.) They don't seem to pinch and the footfall feels stable. I just hope I don't end up with shin splints from the impact on concrete. For those endowed with muscular calves, the secret to getting this boot on is to pull the shaft down a bit so it bunches over the ankle. A slouchier look but it works.

I ordered a half-size larger and I have a fairly narrow foot, but the boots were still too tight. The heel was so stiff that just getting into them was a challenge. They were of a lesser quality than the last pair of water-proof leather boots I purchased in the same price range.

Both times, I wore them all day. I was amazed how comfortable they are. I received many compliments and inquiries on where I got them. I read that they run small, so I ordered a size up and they fit perfectly!

I normally wear a 7.5 shoe. I ordered size 8.5 boot. The fit was so snug, I had to return them. Too bad. They would be perfect if the manufacturer would size them properly.
