By gcreek from michigan on 07/08/2009 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My husband and I love the ease of clean-up and the no fuss packing when we take our backpacking just-add-water meals. This set of vegetarian meals works perfectly for us for a weekend trip and the price on stp is the only way that we could afford the meals.

By howienrc from Olympia, WA on 06/11/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is pretty good stuff considering it's freeze dried. I've has some that aren't that great, but eat them because I was hungry (and it was the only choice). This food was all tasty and something that I have already bought more of. Especially because it's such a great deal.
Good Value, easy to pack for quick trip By katmaibear from colorado on 06/10/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I buy two or three of these combination packs each year to supplement my food for backpacking trips. Meals are good and easy to make. The eggs need some help to be a bit more edible. I usually mix in a scalloped potato package with the eggs and heat till done. Repackage them in zip locks for more compact packing.

By asta from The World on 03/10/2009 Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: 72 hour kit, Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: There is nothing wrong with this kit. Just recognize that the portions are "portions" - like when the FDA tells you to only eat X ounces of something... If you require a lot of calories, or are dealing with a growing teenager, recognize that you will need extra.
By Matt M from Dallas, TX on 03/03/2009 Pros: Compact, Durable, Lightweight, Tasty Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good meals. I have tried both the veggie here and the regular meals. I prefer the veggie ones. The lasagna is very good. Very cheesy. The chili is alright, but my girlfriend really likes it. The pad thai is very filling and very good. The desserts are usually too much to eat after dinner, but I like them as an unusual lunch.
By Billy the Squid from Kansas City on 01/14/2009 Cons: Non-boil-only meals inc Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was my first venture into the prepackaged backpacking meals. I was very satisfied. A couple of the meals require more than just adding boiling water, so I haven't eaten them yet. We generally ate one of the entrees and a "side", and that kept two backpackers pretty well fed. It's probably the best I've eaten on a backpacking trip.
By Joe the Adventurer from Denver, CO on 01/09/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: In preparation for a 7-day backpack trip, I purchsed two of these. I was shocked when I read the ingredients! Most contained partially-hydrogenated oils & textured soy protein. Many others contained high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors & preservatives. If you value your health & the quality of food you consume, look at other backpacking foods. Read labels!!
