By BigRob from Georgia on 11/08/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Flexible, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable, Uber-Stable Best Uses: Gym, Pavement, Track Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The structure that gives the best pronation control also gives the best arch support. Brooks cured my heel spurs completely. The cushioning put in these for running is perfect for walking comfort as well. If you are a big guy you should check out Brooks.
Absolutely the best running shoe made. By Al from Meridian, ID on 11/08/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Comfortable, Stable Best Uses: Pavement, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The best shoe of overpronators!
Best motion control shoe on the market! By MJJ from Appleton, WI on 11/08/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Stable Best Uses: Pavement, Track, Trails, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Mesh material inside shoe (lateral heel counter area)wears out too quick. That is only con to an otherwise awesome shoe. Brooks needs to adress this problem.
Awesome shoe, awesome price! By Russ, the new runner from Denver, CO on 11/08/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Comfortable, Flexible, Stable Best Uses: Gym, Pavement, Track, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This shoe works perfectly for me. I'm new to running; just started about a year or 2 ago. Now, I run 3-4 times per week, usually 3-4 miles each time, except for my long runs on weekends of 6-15 miles. I've lost a ton of weight, but still heavy for a runner (200+ pounds). I also overpronate; so I would have shin splints. That is until I started walking/running with Brooks Beast. They take care of the overpronation and are extremely comfortable. These shoes go for about [$] in a running store but are a lot less at Sierra Trading Post. I would buy them here and take the extra money you save and put it towards registering for a race.
By Uncle Roger from Upland, CA on 11/08/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Flexible, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Pavement, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second pair of Beasts. I run on the street and sidewalk (asphalt and concrete) and tend to "bang" my heel when I come down on my stride. This shoe absorbs the pounding and stabilizes my tendency to land on the outside edge of my heel. The design of the shoe helps greatly to correct this. If you tip the scales at the 200 lb. vicinity, this is especially the shoe for you.

By Steve the tennis player from Baltimore, MD on 11/07/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Flexible, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Gym, Pavement, Track Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: All I can say is that I was pleased with these shoes a few months back when I bought a pair at a local running store for over $100. At Sierra's price, I'm even happier.
Terrific Shoe (But Be Careful of Sizing) By SAS from Southeast US on 11/04/2008 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Excellent heel grip, Flexible, Good Traction, Stable Cons: Could be a bit lighter Best Uses: Gym, Pavement, Track Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: One of the best for those of us who are arch-challenged and pronate (actually some 60% of the adult population, I’m told). I only recently switched to the Beast (I believe this is the Beast 9, with no. 10 the latest model) after years of running in Asics Gel-Evolutions. So far (30 miles, primarily pavement) I am pleased with the change. The Beast is a bit heavier and could use just a tad more arch support (for me) but has the same excellent heel grip and a more generous, although not overly large or “sloppy”, toe box. All in all a very well-made, extremely comfortable shoe. Now, as for sizing. One doesn’t replace his “old friends” easily without some thought --- and especially about sizing. Sizing (relative to street shoes) is unfortunately not standardized in running shoes, as I’m sure you know. So, I did more than a little research before I swtiched and found I needed a full-size up in the Beast. I wear a 9.5 Medium (or D width) in everything but running shoes. My Asics are/were all a half-size up (10.0 D). But, a Beast 10.5 D works well for me. "True to size" is thus a bit misleading. I have never before worn a 10.5 D in any other shoe so, I have to assume the 10.5 is "true to size" in the sense that it is a 10.5 and not some reasonable facsimile thereof. Of course, fit --- and especially in running shoes --- is a highly personal thing. [...]
By Peter from Raleigh, NC on 10/18/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have last years model and they have lasted a long time. They are heavy but very stable. Great for over pronators. Granted I do not have this years model, but I would recommend ordering a 1/2 size larger than you normally wear.
