By Jane from Utah on 04/19/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: When I got these out of the box I couldn't believe what I had go for the price, they are a great quality shoe. The first time I wore them I took them on a 7 mile trail run - rocks, mud, grass, snow and ice in the Utah mountains. They were amazing. Held really well to rocks and even ice. They have great arch support. I usually wear arch supports in my asics running shoes but these did not need a thing. They were so comfotable I am going to order another pair, no breaking in at all. I am a size 7.5 in shoes but in my running shoes I always order up (to save the toenails) I ordered the size 9 and they are great. I have just ran 10 miles and 6 miles on consecutive days in them and they still feel great and no injuries. Would definately recommend these, however if you have a really wide foot they may be too narrow, they would be ok for narrow to medium width feet, I would say I have a medium size not narrow foot.
By Spychic from Alexandria VA on 04/11/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, At The Gym, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Gym Rat, Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger, Weekend warrior Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my 2nd pair and I'll probably buy a 3rd. They've never hurt my feet, whether boardwalk cruising, running trails, hiking cement jungles, or driving 18 hours. I reach for these 9x out of 10 for cruising the classrooms of my elementary school b/c they look groovy with jeans or khakis. They are a tad pinchy in the heels but loosen after a few wears. They're stable, well made, and offer excellent arch support. They are water resistent and dry quickly from light showers and breath very well in 80 degrees or above. Unless running, I go sockless, so order 1/2 size up if you like a thick sock.

Really comfortable shoe; fun, bright color.
great support and very stylish By Gear Junkie for Life from Idaho on 02/27/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Durable, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: At The Gym, Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was the first pair of Montrail shoes I've purchased. I'm really happy the fit and quality. They seemed to be very durable and I've gotten quite a few compliments on them already (I have the orange/grey pair). The offer excellent arch support and the soles are well suited for rocky/uneven terrain. I bought the 9.5 (typically a 9 in Nike, 9 in Merrell, and 9.5 in New Balance).
Montrail Highlander Trail Shoes By brainmapper from Annapolis, MD on 01/20/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used for trail ultrarunning - This shoe is light and ideal for racing. It runs narrow with a slight curve-last of the sole but is quite use-able for the straight-lasted runner. If you run seriously long distances, you may want to order ONE size larger to allow for foot-swelling room since the shoe definitely runs small. Also, there is excellent heel-strike padding and to a lesser degree ball padding but yet, a firm sole which makes it an ideal shoe for navigating gnarly rocky trails when running fast. Overall it is a good shoe and I would order more...
By BI Emily from Bainbridge Island, WA on 11/11/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great shoe for light hiking and trails. It was quick to break in, and gives good support even with just the insoles that came with the shoes. I've had great luck with Montrails before, and these continue that trend. They feel a little weird on at first, like you are walking on platforms, but when you are on the trails, they are FANTASTIC!
