Comfy for long distances yet tough By The Lisa from NY on 09/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good toe protection, Quick-drying mesh, Roomy toe box, Stable Cons: Red sole nubs wore fast Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Long distance trail runs Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore these out of the box on a rugged 40-mile hike and they were perfectly comfortable.
One slight drawback - the red nubs on the sole wore off right away on that hike so probably best for dirt trails not wet rock. However, I have had no traction problems with them on dry ground.
I ran the entire Leadville 100 in them in August and feet felt just fine all the way.
I will definitely get another pair for whenever my current ones wear out - so far they are in great shape still.

By DD from Austin, TX on 08/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have only had these for a couple weeks so can't speak for their durability and life very much, but I am SO pleased with their level of comfort! Make sure to buy them in the size recommended (1/2 size off--however STP recommends in the description). I was hesitant to buy shoes online because I always have to return them, but these fit perfectly and have a lot of cushion and support. They look great too.
By MG from Santa Cruz, CA on 06/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I like Montrail for the tall toe box and generally sturdy construction.
Color not the same as online By AWriterWithGuts from Kaneohe, Hawaii on 06/01/2009 Cons: Color different, Heavy, Stiff Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Shoes run small in length and width and I have a narrow foot. Bulky and heavy. Returned as fit was poor. Color was not at all like photo on line. More of a coral/orange and not pink contrast color.
By daywalker from Mount Joy, PA on 05/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Only needed to wear one time to break them in. After that, they felt very comfortable and stable on my feet. Size was about half size smaller than labeled, but was warned about that before I bought them, so no problem there. Good buy.
By Mable loves Montrail from Colorado on 01/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction Best Uses: Gym, Trail running Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have had the Montrail Hardrock in the past and have loved it. I was skeptical about switching to a new model. This shoe feels a little bulkier, but still a good runner. I would recommend replacing the insole with a superfeet or something like that.
