Works OK; Probe NOT Weatherproof By Dr Bob in the Bronx from Bronx, NY on 11/01/2009 Cons: Probe NOT waterproof, Vague accuracy Best Uses: Second channel probe Describe Yourself: Casual User Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Unlike another model sold by STP with a cap over the probe, this has a probe that must be mounted under an eve. The probe has a small display, but it may not be visible depending on where you must mount it. (I cut the neck off a 20-oz soda bottle and inverted it over the probe.) With the extra probe installed, there is often a difference between the two channel readings even if the probes are next to each other. (LaCrosse says that a 2 degree difference is acceptable.) Although the tiny probe display cycles between temperatures of the two channels, the main display does not. To see the second channel temperature you must push a button. If you follow the instructions to power the probe (2 AAA you supply) before the main unit (2 AA you supply) everything works great.
By Gardener from Columbia Gorge WA on 10/16/2009 Pros: Easy To Configure, Easy To Use Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've used this weather station in my gardening for nearly a year now and am pleased with it's durability and performance. I use the remote to monitor air temperature in a raised bed cold frame with the probe to monitor the soil temperature. I've found that the remote has difficulty functioning at higher (100+) temps, but otherwise is quite dependable.
By Estrella23 from Oxford, Maryland on 09/06/2009 Pros: Consistent Performance, Durable, Easy To Configure, Easy To Use Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We like to know the outside temperature when we wake in the morning. This is a replacement for one we have had for 3-4 years. It comes with a probe for a pond or pool but we have no need for this. This is working just fine.
By yoyosma from michigan on 06/28/2009 Pros: Consistent Performance, Durable, Easy To Configure, Easy To Use Describe Yourself: Casual User Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Gives me pretty accurate pool and outside temps, I'm happy. Could use a longer cord for the waterproof probe.
Inside temps and humidity good too.
I'm buying a second for a second remove outdoor sensor and to have a station near my desk and in my kitchen.
By Sam from Virginia on 04/30/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Configure Describe Yourself: Casual User Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Remote does not have the 10 foot extension advertized on the box.. It is 6 1/2 ft. Transmission range is no where near 330 feet. I got about 150 ft through one exterior wall.
Good Price but Less than Expected By Zeke from Virginia on 04/21/2009 Pros: Consistent Performance, Durable, Easy To Configure Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The product performs as advertized except:I could not get the range advertized. I was lucky to get 100 ft, even taking into consideration objects in the way. The advertized 10 foot remote has only 6 1/2foot cable on it. Not enough to place the remote at eye level and still reach water slightly below ground level with the remote sensor.I complained about the later misleading advertizing [...]
simple inside/outside thermometer works By z-rate-r from Portland, OR on 04/13/2009 Pros: Compact, Easy To Use Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a simple, inexpensive, and compact inside/outside wireless thermometer. I am not using the remote probe as I just wanted 2 readings, not 3.
Didn't need the fancy version for forecasting.
By jVm from Fresno, Ca on 04/12/2009 Pros: Consistent Performance, Durable, Easy To Configure, Versatile Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really cool if you can use the probe and still worth it if you don't. My use is to monitor wine storage. Since we have older remotes on 433 MHZ it is nice that this is on another freq - 915MHZ
By Savvy Sam from New York, NY on 04/10/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This unit is much more robust than the kind that have batteries in the external unit, that I've used in the past. It's working well for me.
