By CandR from Colorado on 12/16/2008 Pros: Consistent Performance, Durable, Easy To Configure, Versatile Best Uses: Monitor hot tub water tem Describe Yourself: Casual User Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I live in an area where it can get very cold, well below zero degrees F.. Wanted the peace of mind that my hot tub has not lost power, thus allowing a freeze. I attached the sensor to the side of the tub with probe hanging in the water. Comforting to see all is well from the comfort of my living room. Helps to know the water is hot before I venture out to enjoy a soak as well.
Huge caveat though ... I have only had this for a few weeks now. No long term experience.
By The abused consumer from Ann Arbor, MI on 12/13/2008 Cons: Difficult To Configure, Unreliable Describe Yourself: Casual User Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a different Lacrosse model but it shares the same outdoor sensor. The sensor stopped working after 14 months, so no outdoor temps! I see other reviewers had the same problem. The set-up routine is tricky and the instructions ambiguous. I tried contacting Lacrosse several times but they don't seem interested in responding.
Buy another make.
By Dirt Maker from Richmond, VA on 08/05/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Assemble Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use the probe to monitor a composting operation and ambient outdoor temperature. Excellent for the purpose, but I'm careful not to let the compost get too hot! Disappointing that other temperature sensors from the same manufacturer (LaCrosse Tech) won't interoperate with this product.
