I was pleasantly surprised when they showed up and included the moderate weight, outerjacket and the separate fleece underneath. My daughters were thrilled with this. We have not worn them yet, but they can't wait for it to get cold.

"Good for what it is worth" By Charlie from Hayward, WI on 08/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is a quick rain coat for hiking around. It sheds the water and the cost is reasonable. It is good for kids since they grow out them quickly. We used it for kayaking and camping. It did not breath the best but it was suitable.
By older mom from minneapolis on 07/08/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Attractive design. The liner and jacket are sized very differently. If one fits great, the other will be bulky or tight. We will use the liner while waiting for her to grow into the jacket.

By WisconsinMom from NE Wisconsin on 04/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased the coat in both colors, one for each of my daughters. They were both very large, so my older daughter gets the smaller of the two and we'll wait a year for the larger one to fit. I would say they are at least one size off. They are very nice jackets, and I love the fact that they have inside fleece jackets that can be worn separately...a two-for-one deal! Very versatile for Spring in Wisconsin!
By MG from NC on 04/22/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Outer shell runs big and inner fleece layer runs small. Wish we could mix and match, but instead must return and look elsewhere.
By Mama with girls from Portland, OR on 03/24/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this for my 7-year-old daughter who is very happy with it, because it's a new coat of course. I like:
- two layers that can be used independently or combined
- says it's waterproof (we haven't tested that yet but live in Portland, OR, so waterproof is important here).
At first I was disappointed that the fleece lining didn't zip in, but now I'm glad. As things go with a 7-year-old, when you're trying to get out the door (and with the 4-yo in tow), it's important to be able to change directions quickly. The lining goes in and out easily, and does have 3 easy-to-use anchors for keeping it attached to the coat when it is in. DD is happy with the pockets (and with her secret pocket she found). We've only had this for about a week though. We'll see how it wears.
Regarding sizing, it's hard to say - it's big on her, but she's a slim. It's long on her, and she's tall for her age but she's just turning 7. It seems she in the pocket where her old stuff is too short and the new stuff is too long.
I was afraid the fold-up hood would be flimsy, but it's made of the same fabric the jacket is made from, so it feels substantial and has nice fitting features, drawstring shockcord and a nice bill on it. DD can really cinch it up around her face (which she's been doing regardless of the actual precip conditions).

Great fleece liner can be worn separately or under the jacket. Does have loops & velcro straps to hold the liner in place. My daughter LOVES this jacket. Also, looks better live than in the pix. She's 8 1/2 and the 6-8 size fits her perfectly -- probably runs a bit large.
By viedy from NW Arkansas on 03/16/2009 Best Uses: Cold Weather, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I agree with other reviewers that this coat is wonderful for older children. The fleece liner doesn't zip in so it truly is 2 pieces that are attached at the sleeves and back of the neck. That could pose a problem with a younger child. My 10 year old needed some basic tips to help to control it and now she loves it.
