Stylish Enough for the Office By Sebby's Mom from Huntington, NY on 08/04/2009 Pros: Distinctive Design, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Cons: Too slim in hip area Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Downhill, Hiking, Office on stormy days Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a middle aged woman regaining my health and wellbeing. Dressing in sportswear makes me feel younger and more fit as I progress toward these goals. I love high quality and high-style and this jacket delivers on both. Even at Sierra prices it is not cheap, but it isn't cheaply made either. The jacket is thin; order a size larger if you plan to use it for winter sports. A down vest worn underneath should do the trick.
Would be a great jacket if it fit By Disappointed from Asheville , NC on 04/08/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The jacket is very fitted and although I am of average height ( 5'6") , the waist is too long so the coat is bunched up and baggy on top . I'm disappointed because it is an otherwise perfect jacket . If you are tall or very long waisted then this is the coat for you .
By pjoutdoors from ontario, canada on 03/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Stylish Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is generally a very good coat meant to be part of a layering system for warmth. There are two major flaws; the zipper is one way only and the jacket is tight at the hips
I Absolutely Love This Jacket By Loves Winter (with the right gear) from Haines, Alaska on 02/26/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Stylish, Warm, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Downhill, Hiking Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My Ground Glissade Jacket was put to the test on a recent snowshoe assent of Mt. Ripinsky above Haines, Alaska. I put the jacket on after we got above tree line onto the exposed slope where the wind was blowing 30-40 knots and the temp was around 20 degrees. We climbed as high as the South Summit. The hood did a great job of shielding my face from the wind, and I could snug in down so it didn't blow off. I stayed warm and couldn't feel the cold or the wind. As I began to heat up on the descent, I was able to open the underarm vents, unzip and control my temperature. This jacket packs easily into a day pack and looks so streamlined, that I can't help but also wear it around town.
By g'malim mama from New England on 02/02/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Hiking, Skiing, Snowshoeing, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered this jacket in two sizes, M & L since I have found inconsistency in sizes between manufacturers. The large was way too big. The medium fit through the chest and arms, but was snug through the hips. The jacket's waistline fell too low on my body. I tend to be short from shoulder to waist, with long legs. Jacket was not for me. I'm returning both.
By snowdancer from san diego, ca on 12/15/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have not worn it in the snow yet, but it is very attractive, fits well and seems that it will be warma nd functional. It is very lightweight and unless it has super-space-age insulation, I will have to wear plenty of layers underneath.
By SkiMom from Boston, MA on 12/10/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Rain Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I will return this. It is a very lightweight shell and I was looking for a ski coat. Also, it does not have the two-way zipper that I find essential for winter sports.
