By Love the outdoors from Lexington, KY and Moscow, Idaho on 10/23/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Casual Wear, Downhill, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really light for warmth and seems to not cook when temps rise. Repels water well. Only drawback would be skimpy, micro teeth, plastic zippers. One thing I love is big teeth zippers on jackets that don't stop working. A bit worried this may be an issue for the Mountain Hardware jacket but so far, so good.
By sand in my shoes from Cape Cod, MA on 09/15/2009 Pros: Durable, Warm, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a downhill/casual jacket. The lining, which doesn't show in the photo is very 'boarder style', not what I was looking for. Well made with nice features, but not for me.
By Six Dog Sue from Tulsa, OK on 08/10/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Downhill, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Really like the style and weight of this jacket - not bulky at all, and warm. I plan to use it on a trip to Ireland this winter, and for skiing this Spring. My only negative is that there is no elastic in the wrists, and I have very small wrists, so it is tough to get a good fit with velcro tabs alone.
By Spfdgal from The Green Mtn State on 08/05/2009 Pros: Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Casual Wear, Downhill Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got this jacket and it's beautiful. Excellent quality and lots of really cool pockets, plus a nice liner that won't grab a fleece base layer. My one complaint is that the sleeves are WAY too long-- they extend about 2" past my extended fingertips. I am 5'7" and have at least avg. length arms, so this was a disappointment. Still, the other features are so nice that I am considering keeping the jacket--the quality is that good.
By Mars from Flagstaff, AZ on 12/16/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Downhill, Freestyle Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great coat! I love it. It is a little snug around the waist with layers on and a little bulky around the shouder area, but great coat.
By JJ from Raleigh, NC on 11/18/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love the jacket, the only bad thing is that the sleeves are really wide, and the jacket itself is a little short by the waist...but it is very warm once you move around a little bit and it is wind resistant which is awesome!
By Becky from State College, PA on 11/10/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lots of Pockets, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a ski jacket and got this one for around town... though I'm under-utilizing the features, I love it. It's comfy and warm.
Great Cold Weather Jacket! By sierra hiker from Berkeley, CA on 11/10/2008 Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I used this jacket on a backpacking trip where it snowed 1 ft and the night time temps were 20-25 degrees . The jacket feels a bit thin and does not have a separate liner, which i was a bit worried about, but i never needed the additional fleece that i had brought in the case that it was not warm enough. A long sleeved base layer and fleece vest kept me nice and warm despite the cold and snow. I can't wait to take it skiing! If i had a complaint it would be that the sleeves are a bit shorter than i prefer, but i'm rather tall.
A very nice jacket. True to size. True to size with slimming princess cut.
Beautiful and great quality By kayak equinox from Greenville, SC on 10/10/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is the third Mountain Hardwear item I own. I've never been displeased with any of their products. As long as you follow the care guidelines, the fabrics hold up well. The fit is terrific - made for curvy girls, and the Steep jacket somehow makes a bulky ski jacket appear slim on the body.I really liked the style, not too grunge, not too elitist skier. Loved all the pockets and "gadget" like extras -zip-off skirting, card/lift ticket pocket. Sooo cool!
