Hiking=NO (unless you have socks)! Wore these on an approximately 15-20 mile hike through Hawaii's Big Island where we crossed a river, stream, beach, many hills and wooded/muddy trails. My two complaints are: Heel strap slipped loose occassionally, needing periodic adjustments to re-tighten. As we were in/out of water, didn't have socks on and the tops of my feet were rubbed raw. Also, during this hike and a canoeing adventure, when getting into mud, the sand/pebbles got trapped, adding to the chafing. Hoping to find some neoprene-based socks to try as they were very comfortable, felt like a tennis shoe, even over the long distance, if you could just eliminate the top rubbing.
So good...I bought a second pair. Great for those days when I'm not sure if I'm walking or kayaking.

I have not used them for anything associated with water yet but hope they are as advertised.
They feel great, but run large. By the traveler from Austin, TX on 04/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Traction, Lightweight Best Uses: Boating, Kayaking, Rafting, Sailing, Wading Describe Yourself: Recreational User Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Seem really well built, although I haven't tried them in the water yet. I love the strap at the heel that alows you to custom fit the shoe to your foot. I'm trying them out in the Galapogos next week.
