I'll take wool every time By Working man from Vista, California on 11/22/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Non-itchy merino wool, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Cons: The need to hang dry sock Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These merino wool (non-itch) socks are used by me daily. I liked them so much I purchased seven pair. Even on warm days they are comfortable and provide excellent cushioning. These are work boot or hiking socks. I hang dry them. Wool seems to be the perfect insulator. Warm in winter, cool in summer and wicks the moisture. Won't leave a ring around your calf at the end of the day.

By Dudleyduright from Pawtucket, RI on 11/18/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Cushy, Durable, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm wearing these for cushion, comfort and warmth while walking my dog 3+miles on both pavement and woods in nearby state park. Wicks away moisture very well unlike synthetics. Feet feel warm and dry even when a bit sweaty. Very comfortable sock to wear over longer distances and all day. Take them off and my feet aren't all wet and cold from sweating in them all day. Wish I'd bought more than two pair.
By nessen from Los Angeles, CA on 07/22/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These are comfortable but after one wearing (not even a washing) the socks look horrible. Apparently the yarns are very loosely twisted: the wool has pulled out from the yarns and the whole thing looks like a furry, matted-down dog. These seem like cheap socks, and I don't think they are worth even the Sierra Trading Post discounted prices. You can do much better with other wool socks on [...]

By Vintage Ken from Massachusetts on 05/19/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Stylish, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore them for the Walk For Hunger, 20 miles on hard surface. that's not so far unless you consider that I'm 71 and had a new knee installed 21 months ago. I'm definitely working my way back up from tenderfoot and the socks are great.
By Headless Brakeman from SW PA on 05/02/2008 Cons: Bunches Up, Stretches, Wears Quickly Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Fits fine at first, then stretches and doesn't return to size. will not purchase any more
By Steve the wool lover from Spokane, WA on 04/23/2008 Best Uses: Give to poor friend Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: On the website the socks looked light brown. The description of the product was light brown. When I got them I was very disappoited. I really wanted light brown but the socks were more khaki green. So, I gave them away. It just seemed like too much trouble to send them back or complain.
