wide toe box and not too durable By tta.hiker from Nashville, TN on 08/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Cons: Sole Wears Out Quickly, Squeaks Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I really wanted these shoes to work, I've read other reviews that said they were not that durable but thought I'd take a chance.
Pros- They look cool. They are comfortable right out of the box. They have a three piece insole system that lets you make it thicker or thinner. They drain fairly quickly when doing creek crossings.
Cons- They seemed too wide in the toe box even with the thickest insole. The deep lugs on the soles appeared to be somewhat fragile. I had a couple of good nicks in three of them after the first dayhike (9 miles) I went on. The shoes just aren't durable enough for backpacking. After the first 9 mile day carrying about 18 pounds the interior where the arch is was coming apart. It seems to be three layers, the outer material, a middle foam type material and an inner mesh type fabric that your sock/insole would be in contact with. The middle foam material was pulled away from the other layers and bunched near the bottom. It appeared the insole caused this by rubbing against the side of the shoe. Both shoes did this as did both sides but the arch side was worse. Also under the insole where the heel area is stiched to the sole that fabric that covers the sole came lose on the second day of the backpack. After 4 days and a modest 35 miles in the Smokies the left shoe already had a hole rubbed through the inner mesh by the arch. I'm returning these today. I do wish they had held up better. By 5dogmom from silver spring, md on 07/26/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Stable Cons: Material tears easily, Squeaks, Stiff Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had these shoes for only 6 weeks and the material on the top has already torn. Not durable at all... Not only that but the squeak is driving me crazy. I am already shopping for new shoes and these are staying in the closet.

By Wreba the duchess of arch from Nashville, TN on 07/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was sized as an 8 but is actually a 7.5/8 and runs small. Very disappointed because I have to return and find a true 8. This is an incredible shoe and relieved a lot of pain from problems with my feet. I love them just upset with sizing.
By Trail Runner from Washington, DC on 07/03/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes look good, but they came a half size too small. I ordered an 8 and the size on the box said 7.5-8 when I got it. It was definitely a 7.5. Other than that it looks like a good shoe.
