By Jack from Virginia on 10/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stow-away Hood Cons: Bad zipper, Sleeve Velcro Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Maybe I just got a poor quality jacket - did not seem up to par for Lowe Alpine. Zipper was very hard to start correctly, also sewn on the opposite side of all other zippers - left handed. Velcro on the cuffs seemed inadequate to stay in place during standard activities.
By The Cannibal from Florence, KY on 10/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am well pleased to own this jacket. It's light weight and little bulk makes it a good item for my backpack. I have confidence that it will serve me well in extreme weather backpacking.
By WKinNJ from New Jersey on 09/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As some reviews have pointed out, this jack has a stiff collar. Although this makes you look like Elvis, it works great for me since I like open air motoring (roadster or Jeep) it keeps the cold air off the back of your neck. Other notes: the jacket is well built, lightweight and has ample room for layering.
By Big Sierratradingpost Fan from La Grande, OR on 08/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I like this jacket enough to keep it because it really looks nice on me. Is that vain? However, it is not perfect. My biggest beef is the double front zipper. It's nearly impossible to align! The collar sticks up and it's a little short on the torso and long on my arms.
By Hiker Bill from Cedar Falls, IA on 03/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Lowe Alpine Venture jacket is lightweight and compresses well--just right for stowing in my lumbar pack for long day hikes. The Gore-Tex performs as advertised: sheds rain and breathes well. The Venture's no-frills design is fine for moderate activity, though for more strenuous efforts like x-c skiing and hiking over steeper, more rugged terrain, I'd want pit-zips and heavier fabric. But I've got those features in another jacket. I'd prefer the Venture to have at least one more pocket, either an interior security or a zippered breast pocket, but the lack of such isn't a big deal.

By Chicago from Chicago on 02/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great jacket and works well in winter with a baselayer under. My husband wears it almost daily even in the chilly Chicago winters. Great value as well, I would definitely recommend it!
Nice jacket, terrible collar/hood By zio from bay area, california on 12/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The hood has a stiff bill. Folding it up actually makes it wider than the collar itself, which means the collar sticks up and flares out like a superhero’s cape.
I really liked the Gore-Tex Paclite material. But because the jacket is so lightweight, if you leave the hood out you can feel it hanging from the collar.
These might not bother some people. But I’m weird when it comes to collars & the way the feel on my neck.
