By bcranger from Teton Valley, ID on 04/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Regulates Temperature Well Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear two socks and use these heavy weights as the outer sock. I have both medium and small and have found that the small work better eventhough I have a medium size foot.
By Montana hiker from Missoula, MT on 04/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cushy, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Use these to hike with La Sportiva's and White's boots. Smart wools hold up even with multiple uses before washing. The mountaineering socks are my favorite for extended trip and higher coverage, but these are great for fit and function, and they're not as bulky which is good for well-fitting boots.
Best socks on the face of the earth By Detroit Walker from Detroit, MI on 04/05/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are really dense, cushy socks that will keep your feet warm well into the sub-zero temperature range. I gave two pairs to my sister, who lives where it's regularly -20 in the winter, and she wants more pairs so that she can wear them every day when she's out shoveling snow or walking the dogs.
By farm gal at heart from Florence, AL on 03/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cushy, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking, Probably other uses Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My daughter wears these socks or other Smart Wool ones much like these ever day in all seasons. She has some trouble with her feet, and the cushioning really helps her. As yet, Smart Wools do not bind her legs at the top; I realize that later in life, she may not be able to enjoy such socks as she now does--since they could become too tight and binding. I hope some Smart Wool socks with slightly looser tops will be made in the next few years.
By Rusty from Helena, MT on 03/02/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These socks fit well, are soft and comfortable, and are not itchy. The loopy texture inside worries me a bit--other socks with this texture inside have caused blisters, but I haven't had a chance to put them to the hiking test. If they are like other SmartWool socks, they'll be fine.
By JSun from Asheville, NC on 02/25/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a Forestry Research Technician in the Southern Appalachians--which are steep and can be rocky! I notice a huge difference wearing these socks: when I wear these thicker Smartwools, my feet don't get sore like they do when I wear normal weight wool socks. They can make an old pair of boots feel new!

By Freekish walker from Chippewa Falls, WI on 01/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Stepping in a puddle when walking in 10 degree weather, not much fun. But if you're wearing Smartwool, wait a few minutes and your feel feel dry. Wonderful wicking ability. Perfect cushion.
