By Liz from SD on 11/03/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Comfortable Best Uses: Protection, Street Riding Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this hopefully, even though others said it would fit only if I had gorilla shoulders ( I don't think I do), but it fits well. I wear a medium/8-10 in women's tops. The shoulders are impressive, because of the armor, but the jacket fits properly, all the armor sits where it should, and the jacket is long enough in the arms and back to fit when crouched over a bike. It's cool here already, so I might think it's hot come summer, but it's a good jacket for fall/spring.
By E. from Oregon on 09/25/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection, Racing Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is cut and fits like a Moto GP jacket, you can tell from the pictures. Sizing is (IMO) spot on (130 lbs, 5'6, 29-30 inch waist, ordered size small.)...I don't see how people can't zip it around their waste unless they have a huge waist and a gut. Snug around the shoulders and tapers around the waist stopping directly by the waistband of your pants. For me it looks and feels like it was tailored for for me.
In my book it's fantastic - VERY comfortable to ride it, armor lines up perfectly.
The only downside is the collar on the front gives a bit of chafe with my helmet strap...but that's probably a quirk of my helmet more than the jacket.
By Bainbridge Bull from Bainbridge Island, WA on 07/22/2009 Pros: Cool, Stylish, Tough Cons: Tiny Waist, Uncomfortable Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I ignored some of the reviews about the thin waist because I'm a small guy. I'm 5'9" 157 pounds with a slim 32" waist. I ordered a Medium and could barely zip it on. I would have considered moving up to a XL but the shoulders on the Medium were already huge.
This is an AWESOME jacket in the WRONG SHAPE. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this to anyone, unless they have a very unusually narrow waist and huge shoulders.
The quality is top notch. I ordered and LOVE the other Hein Gericke jacket I got.
By moto-mama from Northampton, MA on 05/29/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection, Street Riding Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Gorgeous jacket, fabulous leather, cool venting, great armor, beautifully made, but a very strange cut. Shoulders are huge, waist is narrow. I had hoped, after reading other reviews, that the small fit for men might make it fit a woman better, but, no, the cut is all wrong for a woman unless she has gorilla shoulders. I ordered both a Large and a Medium and am sending both back. A shame.
bad zipper flunks good jacket By lars from san francisco on 04/24/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Off-Road, Protection, Racing, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I sent this jacket back because it was relatively uncomfortable for casual daily riding and the main zipper fronting the jacket was unbelievably flimsy. It didn't look like it would last a month whereas the leather itself was well put together.
Great Motorcycle Leather Jacket By mkl951 from Elizabeth, CO on 03/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is Great! The build quality is excellent. Design is simple but elegant. Leather is thick, tough and supple. I'm 5'7", with a 40 chest and 32 waist and ordered the Large, the fit is perfect. The low price,[...] and additional discount from Sierra Trading Post, this was a steal! [...]
By DC from Washington Metro on 03/20/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a nice leather jacket with removable pads. I was disappointed that it was so bulky around the chest, not as slim as pictured, it's like they tailored it for a body builder. Read that sizing is 1.5 to 2 sizes smaller, so I got the L based on that and some comments here (typically I wear S). The L made me look like an American Gladiator. Not quite my look, so returned it for a M which is better overall, though snug around the waist. I think at the most you can have a 30 waist, no gut at all, for the M.
By Rebel250 from Portland, OR on 03/15/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Stylish, Tough Cons: Pockets are few and small, Runs 2 sizes small Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a beautifully-styled jacket, very well put together. The armor is in all the right places, and stays in place while the jacket is worn.
There's only one inside pocket and two outside pockets, which may concern some people but doesn't bother me.
Buyer beware - my Fieldsheer jacket (size Small) fits me perfectly. I ordered the Hein Gericke in a Large, and it's pretty snug around the waist and hips. I think XL would be too large, though. This jacket is wide in the shoulders and narrow at the hips, so apple- or pear-shaped people needn't apply. I'm fortunate that the fit works for me. I love it!

Great lookin', feelin' rider! By Max Veloce from Lexington, KY on 02/09/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Racing, Street Riding Motorsports: Competitive Rider Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very handsome jacket that can be worn in most seasons. There is no zip-in insulation, but a layer of Capilene will make for a comfortable ride in the 50's .
The armor is excellent, especially nice is the forearm section integrated into elbow piece.Other than the sewn in sections, the armor comes out easily for standing around at the bar. The diagonal front zipper looks great and prevents cold air seepage at zipper. I removed the velcro front neck strap and it looks and feels better. The back/top of the collar has a soft padded leather scree, and like the rest of the jacket,is very comfortable.
Watch out for sizing! I have a 40" chest and wear a Medium normally. I could barely get in a large and ended up with an Extra Large (XL)! Who designated sizing on these? Lilliputians?
I have another great Hein Gericke and one at this price is an immense bargain!
