They do an amazing job of reducing stress on your lower body. If your knees hurt after a long day of walking, get trekking poles.
Compared to my black diamond adjustable ski poles, these seem to collapse easily under a heavy load if they are not locked just right. Nonetheless, I will probably use them for back country ski touring as well because they are very light and comfortable.
