Bushwhacking poles? Maybe not.. By Photo Geek from Las Cruces, NM on 09/28/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Lightweight, Price is right Cons: Bent after one use, Grips are uncomfortable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these poles for my husband who had knee surgery 2 months ago. We took them out on a day hike. Our hike turned into bushwhacking through the desert mesquite and scrambling up and down a canyon wall. They worked very well and were lightweight. They did bend a little when my husband slipped on loose gravel and went down. The good news is, his knee is fine. My hands are small so I don't like the grips but he likes them.
For the price they are a good pole.

By Buttercup from Boulder, Co. on 08/16/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Lightweight Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Pretty standard poles. Komperdell makes good stuff and these are similar to another pair I have used for years. I assume these would be just as servicable but I didn't keep them so really don't know. Grips are awfully hard. Collapsed, they are longer than the my other poles and wouldn't won't fit in my carry-on suitcase. Trekking poles are a must for those of us with weak knees who want to keep on hiking. Mine go with me almost everywere.
