I am a big proponent of poles By Tom from Atlanta from ATL on 03/06/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Climbing, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have an old set of poles that I have used for many years. They save my legs both uphill and downhill and have helped me to avoid many a sprained ankle on rougher terrain.
I've been waiting for the right deal to replace the old ones and this was the best deal I could hope for. These new poles are lighter than my old ones and will log many miles. As a three section pole they compact down quite nicely for carrying or strapping to your pack. They appear to be very durable and are definitely easy to adjust. The only thing I wish was different would be if they came with snow baskets, not the small baskets they came with.
By metaroo from rancho mirage on 03/01/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These trekking poles are very lightweight and collapse to a very short length, so they are easy to take along wherever you go. Adjusting them to the height one needs is easy and quick. I love these and think I will buy another pair for when I hike with a friend who doesn't have any.
Good value and very practical By Trout Fisherman from Statesville, NC on 02/24/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
By cavehusband from AZ on 02/22/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I used the product twice, once for snowshoeing and once, telescoped down as walking sticks for my grandchildren. Seemed to work ok both times. Wish I had winter baskets during the snowshoe trip rather than the summer baskets that came with it. Good price. (on sale)
By Mountain Hombre from Northern Colorado on 02/18/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Lightweight, Strong Cons: Hard to change baskets, Uncomfortable Grips Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking, Snowshoeing Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great poles for the price. They are easy to adjust and strong, but have hard, uncomfortable grips. I've had great success with them so far, whether climbing mountains, snowshoeing, or backpacking. My one big frustration was when I tried to remove the standard baskets to add snow baskets. This was d*mn near impossible and the big design flaw on these. DOn't expect to change out the baskets often.
By Gringo de MSU from Virgina or Chile on 02/12/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had mine for years and would never complain about the strength or quality. They've been with me on day hikes and 4 week expeditions. I've even put all my weight on them whie carrying an 80+ pound pack and they are still true. I'd be lost without them!
