Good value but expected better quality By Harry the Hiker from Virginia on 04/10/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Cons: Comes apart too easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Don't get me wrong, these Austrian built poles are great. My only concern was that, on my first hike w/ them, one of the poles would not lock into "off" position for the Anti-shock. I later took the malfunctioning pole apart and was able to remedy the problem somehow. I would like to see the locking mechanisms better constructed. Otherwise, these poles are light weight and the Antishock really does make a difference. I found it reduced shoulder fatigue both uphill and down and ended up keeping it "on" all of the time. My brother bought more expensive Komperdells w/ the cork handles and one of his handles snapped in half the first day out. Stick with the plastic!
