They were very easy to hike with, the cork grips are shaped just right for my hands, and they definitely seemed to help take some of the strain off of my knees. I'm glad I got them!
Great Basic Pole Set with Cork Grips By Eric "The Red" from Hercules, CA on 10/26/2009 Pros: Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these poles as a backup pair because they were a good deal and the old poles I had didn't have cork grips. Plus, these poles didn't have the shock absorbers which made them fairly lightweight for an aluminum pole. The Komperdell locks have always worked well for me (after 7-8 years using my original Komperdell poles) and are easily adjustable. Only change I would have liked would have been a carbide tip instead of a steel tip, but when it wears out, I can replace it with carbide.
For the price I paid and the weight of these poles (and the simplicity), I think they will serve me well for years to come and would recommend them.
By kubotaman from marietta, ohio on 09/18/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: bought these because they were made in austria [*]. seem well made but so called cork handles look like cork but i think are actually rubber or plastic(injection mold marks on bottom).that being said they are a good buy for the $$$
By Dierdra from Fairfield, CT on 09/14/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these poles to do small horizontal hikes and walks in Italy for my cousin. They are lightweight and handy to have. She has bad knees so they were very helpful. They are also easy to pack in luggage. They are "not" the top of the line but were useful. I have more expensive Komperdell poles that are great. Anti-shock poles are the way to go if you do more intense vertical hikes.

These poles were a life saver!! By dolly55 from Allen Park, MI on 08/15/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Without these poles I never would have been able to hike around Isle Royal National Park. With severe arthritis in both knees, they kept me steady and aided in climbimg up and down some rather steep trails. Very lightweight and strong. Comfortable grip. The only thing I would have liked were some instructions on the optimal method of adjusting them; didn't know whether each section should be extended the same amount or not.
