No frill very reliable boot. By Forest Ranger Ky from Colorado on 04/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Environmentalist, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the one I keep coming back too. No frill very reliable boot. Great for almost any type of hiking. Take a little breaking in but once they do very comfortable fit. I spend upwards of ten hours a day five days a week in these and have happy feet with no complaints. I am flat footed with high arches, go figure. Have two bad knees and one bad hip. These provide the support I need while not being to heavy. My only complaint is no toe guard. The way I walk the leather gets scuffed pretty quick on the toe. So the last pair I had a toe quard put on. Also, the lack of color choices. I have them dyed black for work. Do have an older model that is Gor-Tex. Not sure what the thinking was when they were dicontinued. Love them enough that I had them resoled. Leather and sole on these wears very well. On me the leather will eventually fail on the toe crease were it meets the sole but by that time the sole itself is about see through or has already been replaced.
By concrete queen from Mississippi on 04/07/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Not real heavy, Sturdy/Durable, The laces stay tied Best Uses: Cold Weather, Everyday, Gravel and uneven terrain, Harsh Terrain, Snake protection Describe Yourself: Hard worker real hard Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought the high ankle support to protect two plates on either sides of my ankle...don't purchase for that purpose. I have to leave that foot unlaced....It irritates more than protects. But I liked the boots so much I kept them. Unlaced and all.

By Jan the day hiker from VT on 03/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my 4th pair of Vasques and I am always happy with the brand. These aren't the prettiest (make your feet look slightly big) but they are very comfortable right out of the box. Good ankle support and easy to slip on. I also bought a pair of Lunas, but these are the more comfortable boots. I'll be wearing these for hiking, and the other for casual and work.
By Lula from Pittsburgh PA on 03/16/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned the boots because they were too stiff around the ankle - I found them uncomfortable to wear - I did not have the impression that I could break them in satisfactorily.
By Dute from N GA / Peru on 02/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support Cons: Had to returntoo narrow Describe Yourself: Winters in Peru Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Always loved Vasque but these were really narrow & couldn't wear them comfortably
By wren from nevada on 01/30/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Heavy, Tight around calf Best Uses: Day Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these boots to replace a pair of winter snow boots that had served me long and well. My priorities were traction in snow/ice, support, and water-resistance.
The boots are well-constructed and have terrific support, espeically in the ankles. I have low arches and an old ankle injury, so this was welcome. There is plenty of room in the toes where my foot is a true medium, yet they fit my narrow heel fine. They needed a little breaking in, but I expected such.
They aren't hideous looking, but neither are they very attractive. That's ok, I'm not going dancing in them -- but they do make my foot look bigger than usual (by a lot). The upper is higher than I thought it would be, so it takes some patience to get a comfortable fit on my (wide) calves.
