By Anviloid from Hartsburg MO on 04/01/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The only drawback was the need for and additional foam insole beneath the removeable footbed. This drawback is minor and will allow for the use of heavy socks in cold weather. Never want to take them off!

It required very little break it. I wore the shoes around casually for about a week before a 3 day long 42 mile hike and I had no problems. They provide a little insulation against cold but more importantly they protect you ankles from being rolled. They helped me navigate through the Big Bend National Park across a variety of difference desert terrain. I would recommend this highly! Images shared by: DaveThe nicer of the terrain I hiked. Imagine worse.
Ole Granny ordered wrong size. By Paintball Granny from Chester, Virginia on 03/26/2009 Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am waiting for credit, I was instructed to refuse the shipment, grandma ordered a men's shoe and I needed a youth for my grandson's Scout hiking trip. I had to refuse the order and get a pair locally. I will definitely keep Sierra in my favorites because the people are so nice on the phone and helpful.
By bairgainhunter from brooklyn, ny on 03/24/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: very nice boots. basic, well made -- tough cordura and leather -- and a really great buy for the price. comfortable and good ankle support. have heard a lot of good things about vasque brand so eager to try these out on the trail. just walking around town they are are very comfortable but a little heavier than i thought they would be. rubs on ankle bone but i expect this to break in over time as this has happened and later gone away with other hiking boots i've owned. footbed and padding feel great. not very breathable (no goretex) and not waterproof according to description. my feet get hot even with light socks. i'm a little old school when it comes to hi-tech fabrics because they tend to become less effective over time (or at least they used to). i just take my boots off and change socks at rest stops. they might get really hot in hot weather though and for a serious backcountry trip it might be an issue. i treated boots with sno-seal and the nubuck gets a lot darker (i think they look better) and they seem waterproof so far. only con i can see is that there are a lot of seams so potential for leaks. vibram soles wuld be nice but the airwalk soles seem to be ok. (online reviews say they can be slippery on rocks but i don't know yet.) so far, so good. i expect them to last a while and should be great for winter as well.

By kevshoe from St. Louis on 03/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm in lawn maintenance and typically go through a pair of boots in a year. I have tried other boots and they just don't compare, I keep coming back to the Clarions. Little break in time, comfortable plus great arch support. The laces are a little tricky at first. I just bend metal hooks out with a pair of pliers so the laces slide in easier. Rumor is that they are not producing this boot anymore so I will most likely purchase another pair soon for next season. So strap on those boots and get out there and enjoy the outdoors!
