By The yard woman from Issaquah, WA on 07/02/2008 Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So far I have been wearing the shoes only around the house, but they have been very comfy from the start. Good support, not too heavy and they don't bind anywhere. I don't know if I would wear them climbing mountains ( which I have no intention of doing), but I think they would be comfy enough to wear all day doing yardwork. Waterproof, I don't know, have not tried it. I rated it 4 stars because they have not gotten the "full workout" yet. But, as of now, I would recommend these boots.

By SOWA from Vacaville, CA on 06/17/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Ankle grabs prickers Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Vibram sole offers a soft landing. It's also designed perfectly for a woman who has a little hip (woman tend to land, roll the foot inward, then toe off). It took one hike to break the ankle in and a bit more for the toe area. I would recommend wearing a mid-calf hiking sock, for cushion and wicking. This boot is a real bargin for the $.

Put this on and start your hike! By Joyce from Detroit, MI on 05/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a daily walker and also state park hiker. This is just a wonderful boot. Put it on, and just go. I use orthodics and barely need them with this shoe, but there is room to put one in with the removable insole. It is lightweight, great traction, and a good fit in the heel. This is my 3rd pair of Merrells and have found each pair to wear a long time.

They have adequate ankle support, and they are waterproof, or at least Oregon-mudproof!
