The size 8 were a pinch too short (and I mean pinch!), but the 8.5 were slightly too big. I'm keeping them though, because the shoe is very very comfortable. An insert might help. The brown is very rich with red tones--not a straight chocolate brown. The shoe has a simple, but unique design that I feel makes it very lovely and eye-catching. The sole is very comfortable, like walking on air and the shoe was comfortable as well right from the start. I also bought a pair of the Rogue Bertie Lu in the moss color from Sierra Trading Post--and the size 8 (order a 1/2 size down!) is fantastic.
These shoes are well-made, and durable as well as adding to any outfit. I wear tights/hosiery every day and these look lovely with any length of skirt, casual or more dressy.

Styles and pairs can vary from 1/2 to 2 sizes too big OR small. It is truly a miracle to find correct size.

The bottom (heel) of the shoes is made from an interesting material that makes the sole very soft.
