By Happy Happy from San Francisco Bay Area on 11/09/2009 Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was shopping for a black, business casual pair of shoes for my upcoming vacation trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas where I know I'll doing a lot of walking. My dress shoes won't do.
I gave this 4-star because I'm still running them in and like some reviewers mentioned, the shoes probably need several (whole day) wears to properly run-in. I notice the back of the shoe 'pinches' the ankle like 2 tiny round clamps. It doesn't hurt or cause blisters but it felt just a bit awkward. I've only worn these for 4-5 times since new. So far they are comfortable.

Nice Shoes, big on comfort, avg lifespan By Strolling middle aged guy from Bay Area, CA, USA on 07/30/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Stable Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a 220 pounder. My preferred shoes are made by Ecco, Mephisto, Birkenstocks. I have orthopedic issues and sometimes use rigid arch supports. I use the shoes as casual city walking wear.
They are stylish but have a nice toe box, unlike Mephs and Eccos. Comfortable as any shoe I've worn, straight out of the box. The negative heel, this my first exposure, is natural and comfortable with a few days wear. The arch support is above standard. Plantar support is above standard. At first, lateral stability seemed lacking in the uppers, but as I began to use the sole of the shoe, I found plenty. They wear very much like Birkenstocks, with more cushion, same toebox, less durable.
The shoe sole wears quick. The soft uppers are seem plenty durable. I'm pretty certain these are 3 month shoes for me, i.e. 500-600 miles, like commercial gym or basketball shoes. The sole makes taps impracticable. 3 days of wear, about 10-13 miles of cement city walking, show appreciable(1/8-1/4" depth) wear at both toe and heel. I get 2 years on an Ecco sole and about 8 months on Meph walking rubber. The uppers will outlive the lowers and the shoe looks a good candidate for resoling. However, the molded sole is much of the support and stability.

Very comfortable with minimal break-in, bullet-proof construction, plus funky good looks.
The sole is sewed on tight as a drum and wears like it will last forever. Unique tread design looks great and gives a nice stable platform for walking.

I have worn Eccos the last 7 yrs, but sizing has become an issue. These shoes took 3-4 wearings to break in. Good look. Wide toe box. GREAT arch support. Appear as though they will last a long time. Do not breathe well. Ecco Trek II still tops-far and away, but at [$]/pair too good to pass up. I bought 2 pair--black and brown.
Comfort and Value in a Fun Shoe By Rog the Shoe Nut from Englewood, CO on 07/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Fun-loving design, Looks Great Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Ordered mine in black and had two surprises when they arrived. First was how wide the toe box is--good because it gives your toes lots of room to roam--but it also gives the shoe a rather whimsical look that restricts it to casual wear and pleasure walking only. This is definitely not a coat and tie oxford. The second surprise was the straight-from-the-box comfort these shoes have. Plus I really liked the "riverboat gambler" detailing and the solid construction that should give many miles of enjoyable wear. With Sierra's great pricing, you really can't go wrong provided the styling suits you.

Best shoe ever. I can no longer trust Eccos sizing so I tried these. I work at an auto dealership and wore them 11 hrs the first day. Little bit of a break in period. Great arch support. Nice roomy shoe box. Good look. I will rate them 4 stars behind Ecco trek II at 5. But at a sale price [$] (as opposed to $200 for the Treks)they are one of the best values in any product you will find. I bought 2 pairs...the black and brown.
