Jheri richards Wool Gabardine Coat By New York New York from NYC on 07/16/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Going Out, Office, Travel, Work Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, High-end shopper, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The coat is cut quite irregularly. While the chest is fine and feels true to size, the hips are narrow, meaning the cut is very straight going down. Shoulders are quite broad, which works okay for me since I am broad shouldered but may not work so well for others. Similarly, the length seems more than 52", which is okay for me again since I am tall but may not work for others. The sleeves, which are meant to be turned up would be too short if one did that, I think for just about anyone. They only work if left turned down, which looks fine, no problems with doing this because of the way the sleeve end is hemmed. Fabric is lovely and the coat is flattering despite everything and classic. It's worth taking a chance on this one, it's a great bargain, but be aware there are problems with the cut.
By Practical Working Mom from New York, NY on 04/29/2009 Describe Yourself: Classic Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Way too long and unattractive color
By Disappointed from New York on 04/20/2009 Best Uses: Office, Travel, Work Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, Stylish Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The coat seemed like what I was looking for and was good quality and a good price. However,it was too large in the shoulders, but the sleeve length was perfect, so I felt like the sleeve length in a smaller size would be too short.

By Jim Ratt from Pasadena, Ca on 03/03/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Quality fabric Describe Yourself: career, Classic, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat, although constructed of quality materials in a classic style, fit so badly that I had to return it. It is perfect for a 6 foot, small-chested, short-armed person, all of which I am not. I considered keeping it and chopping away 8 or so inches so it wouldn't sweep the floor, but then what to do about the arms and tight fit around the chest?
nice transitional-weather coat! By zephyr from Chicago IL on 02/14/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Going Out, Office, Travel, Work Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been needing a new trench-type coat for a few years, but never saw anything I liked until I came across this one in the STP catalog. And that's what I like about it - it doesn't scream "trench coat". The color for the coat I ordered was "khaki" but it's really a subdued, greyed-out, medium-tone olive green, definitely not khaki beige. I heaved a sigh of relief when the coat arrived, because sometimes "khaki" is way too yellowish for my skin tone; not a problem with this coat at all. The wool gabardine fabric is 100% wool, and has a nice hand. The cut is simple and straight-forward. The coat has a top button at the neck. It lends itself to scarves - either wrapped around the neck and tucked inside, or draped around the shoulders. It's roomy enough for a jacket or blazer underneath.
My coat is a size 8; I'm 5'2" with a small frame. It fits well across the shoulders and bustline. At the moment, the coat is with my seamstress being shortened by about six inches. I knew it would be too long because the coat is a regular, not petite size. But at this price, I'm happy to pay for the hem alteration.
Overall, I'm very please with this purchase.
