Definitely run a size (or more) small By The Bob from Central Virginia on 05/18/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Dries Quickly, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight Cons: Zipperflap opens near top Best Uses: Casual Wear, Running/Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for wearing around town or in the woods on short hikes, but not fro backpacking or long hikes. Small front pockets (including entries to them). They do feel good and dry very fat. Material feels very strong, despite its light weight and how thin it is - two things that make them quite comfortable, assuming you order one or two sizes up.
These run at least one size too small. I got XXL when I usually wear L (sometimes XL, depending on brand and fit).
One last criticism: The flap the hides the zipper opens toward the top (as if the pants are too tight in the waist and are "pulling"), even though they are not. I ordered one XL and one XXL. The XXL are almost too big in the waist and yet the zipper flap still opens a bit at the top. I wear my casual shirts untucked, so its not a big deal to me. The XL's were a tad small and didi the same thing - only more.
Get 'em at a steep markdown and you'll find a use for them. As long as you don't expect cargo capacity or to tuck in a shirt (due to the zipper exposure), you'll love how they fit and wear. Otherwise, look for something else.

By ekter from huntington, wv on 04/27/2009 Cons: Button too large for hole Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: waist was much smaller than expected. the button was extremely difficult to get thru the hole--either the button is too big or the hole too small
By wingnut from Oakley, Ca. on 04/06/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: They just turned out too small. I am a true 32" waist (do my situps everyday)and the 32" waist I ordered fit too tight. Gave them to my 19 year old son. We will see how he likes them.

He normally wears M or maybe L, but had to go up to an XL (order up one or two sizes). Two cons: button hole too small for button, front pockets not very deep. Overall, nice shorts.
