Good alternative to Down but odd sizes By DMD from Washington DC on 06/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Stylish, Warm, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Seems a little big. Other Arcteryx outerwear is perfect in a size large. I had to return it for a medium since a large was too broad and the sleeves were too long. I am a thin but tall 6'2'' guy. The large felt like a tent. I think there are a few too many Arcteryx logos/names on the jacket. Quality is good and the jacket is ideal for skiing and day hikes in the winter. It works around town too.
Great jacket. Well worth the price. By George the poser from Belleville, NJ on 03/09/2009 Pros: Stylish, Warm, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket tends to run a little large. I have other Arcteryx jackets - all XL. The XL Matador was a little on the large side. The Large jacket I settled on fits fine.

By Pathfinder from Brooklyn, NY on 02/23/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is exceptionally warm for its weight. Great multipurpose jacket (winter activities, cold weather wear). The XL size felt true to size. Although it is a softshell, the fabric is not as quiet as I would expect, but nothing objectionable.
By no nickname from saranac lake, ny on 02/20/2009 Pros: Durable, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: More or less, a very good jacket. The collar is a bit annoying...think John McCain's collar during the campaign...80s...
but I didn't buy it to look good in it.
The price was perfect and it's crazy warm.

Excellent fit and warmth. Top shelf construction - it's early in the season, but so far it's been great.

Sleeves were a little long but I may send them in to be tailored. Warmth of down without the bulk and feathers sticking out of the seams.
