Was way better than I expected. Warm, comfortable and elegant looking.
By joemama127 from Texas on 07/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own several Arc'teryx pieces and all are top quality and at or near the top of the game for their intended purpose. This Hades jacket is no exception..quality materials/construction (made in Canada)and very functional for its purpose, which is clearly a lightweight insulating layer under a non-insulated parka or softshell. The fit is trim without being constricting and the insulation never feels bulky. This is a no-frills design with 2 zippered hand pockets, small interior pocket and low-key logos near the left pocket and back of the collar. It also looks very nice and you could wear it on it's own in milder weather. I like to rate things based on what they are..and this is what I thought it would be so I give it the full 5 stars.
insulates well for its weight By lovesportsgear from Harrisonburg, VA on 05/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am 5 foot 7, and 150 lbs. I wanted an athletic fit, and the small achieves this well. I returned the medium as it would have accommodated some layers underneath, but by itself, was a bit loose for my preference. I love this jacket!
By Fish47 from Salt Lake City, UT on 04/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Great fit, Lightweight, Really nice color brown, Sleeves roll up w cuff, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Inner pockets horizontal Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These jackets are really nice looking, functional and the cost is reasonable. The sleeves are amazingly long (I have long arms), but the cuffs turn back nicely when you don't want them in the way, and down when you forgot your gloves. Inner pockets are horizontal so when you lean forward they dump their contents out unless you zipped them. This jacket is functional-about as good as a windstopper fleece, but looks nicer. Good for 20-50 degrees, add to a shell for colder weather.
By All Conditions Skier from E.L. Michigan on 04/18/2009 Pros: Breathable, nice looking Cons: Inadequate Protection, Not warm, Not Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I can blow through this fabric and feel a breeze through the other side. Useless on high wind-chill frigid days, and I am a very warm bodied person with no coldness issues. Bought this hoping it would be a WARM softshell for 10 degrees and down---NOT. Also cannot fit any insulating layer with a collar underneath the softshells collar, I'm not a bullnecked guy either. I gave this away to someone who will wear it around town and apres ski. I seriously wonder if I got a different product than the other reviewers. My old Sharp Point crushes this shell in all functional aspects.
Everything you expect from Arcteryx By pete from Flagstaff AZ on 01/26/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is everything you expect from Arcteryx. A fantatic jacket and great insulation. The understated looks let you wear it out on the town or in the backcountry. Great arm mobility and an athletic cut make it functional and comfortable. The insulation is warmer than you would exect.
By Mtn Bob from Southern Calif on 01/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I liked the first so much that I got a second one. Great warm layer by itself, or under a shell if weather is inclement. The fit is trim but not snug, and allows good freedom of movement with skiing and mountaineering. It also stuffs compactly when you need to peel down with exertion.
These two are made in Canada, but I have also been favorably impressed with Arc'teryx items from overseas. They have great QC, as well as superb functional design.
By Andrew the Barber from Bellingham, WA on 01/18/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have disproportionally long arms and 99% of jackets and LS shirts don't make the cut. Arc'teryx jackets are the only ones I've tried that truly feel like a tailored fit for a tall, long-limb freak like me 8)
By Colorado Cody from Manitou Springs on 01/13/2009 Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just a great jacket to put on in Colorado Weather. 10 degrees - keeps you warm ... the next day 50 degrees and the jacket is light enough to not feel like you wore the wrong jacket.
