Great product for its price

Best Uses:

Comments:
I got this pack for my 65lb English Pointer. I was worried because he is so deep chested and most other reviews had a medium fitting larger dogs. It turns out to fit him perfect! I am very pleased with this product.

Comments:
I have a big boxer and this bag fit him great with the straps only about halfway tightened. It has a lot of storage room. It also has a front strap that goes around the neck, I didn't remember reading about that or seeing it in the picture. Our dog does long backpacking trips with us and now he can carry some weight! Great product, especially for the price.

Good design but pick the right size!

Comments:
I love the design and it looks durable. I have not taken it out but it appears to be designed to minimize rubbing on the dog. My big complaint is they did not reduce the size of the hind quarter strap and is too big even at a medium for 70 pound retreivers with narrow hind quarters. I feel I need a small for my male dog due to his frame and it is almost too big for my female dog.

Great pack!

Comments:
I finally found the perfect pack. I'm a Lab Mix so I'm a bit larger than others. I have gone through a ton of gear looking for anything that fits right and I think I've found it with this pack. The straps are a bit long but my best friend,(and owner) can fix that in no time! I'm definately letting all my buddies know about this.

Too big for my 65-lb barrel-chested mutt
By Sim's Trail BuddyVerified Reviewer from Portland, Maine on 03/14/2009
Cons:
Inaccurately sized
Best Uses:
Larger Pets
Describe Yourself:
Long-time Pet Owner
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This was the first pack we bought for Sim. It looks and feels like a good, high-quality pack. Unfortunately, the medium was too big for our dog...the loaded packs hung down by her belly...too low to be comfortable and safe. So we're exchanging for the smaller size. Sorry to give up the extra room, but hopefully the small will be a good fit (and not too small!). Also considered the Ollydog pack, but opted for this one because of the two belly straps instead of just one, and overall appearance. Hope it was a good choice.

Great. Love it.
By tbVerified Reviewer from Washington State on 03/12/2009
Pros:
Tough
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This pack is easy to put on. As with any pack the load needs to be balanced. It is well made. I have a hungarian viszla. He has a large chest in relation to his slender build. I was able to adjust the pack to a good fit. It stays in place well.

Comments:
We use this for our 85 lb Weimaraner for mountain backpacking in the Rockies. We have another pack (Approach II)also through Sierra TP for our other big Weim. The Mountainsmith Medium is nice fitting and roomier than the Approach II, and will handle different shaped items. I wish it had the more stable Y Yoke harness, but no biggee as it will be fine. This pack has nice features like a bungee cord, mesh outer pocket, and hidden valuables pocket; all quite handy. Construction is heavy fabric and buckles are all shielded with fleece. Very nice pack.
