Decent shoe for light use By Pack Dog Mom from Southern California on 07/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flexible, Light weight, Water Resistant Cons: Only adequate support Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The lacing is an interesting concept. I don't hate it but can't say I love it either. I have some concerns about it holding up to long term use. It also does not allow for detailed adjustment in fit. While these boots are perfectly adequate as every day around the house and barn shoes, they aren't what I'd choose for hiking any distance. They just don't have the support of a leather hiking boot. The light weight material also doesn't offer anything in the way of protection for the top or sides of your foot. As an every day shoe, however, they are light weight, very comfortable, and waterproof.
By Hiking Professor from Hartford, CT on 06/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Put these on and went for a few long hikes. They are like walking on clouds--so comfortable and no chafing.
By laurali from boston, MA on 01/07/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Toe shape pointynarrow Best Uses: Everyday, Urban walking, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: So sad. Looked like a good bet after reading reviews. I take a solid ten and these were a bit too short to even get away with with the thinest socks...for anyone with my foot size. The toe box is not wide and rounded (best for everyones toes) but comes to a point. If they were bigger (longer)my toes would be less squished togeather and maybe I/someone could get away with it. Another pair of shoes ([...]) to send back, ALas! One good thing is they seem nice and stiff (ie stiff midsole) which would be supportive good for hiking/walking and if you wear orthotics.
By Team Dog USA from Richland, MI on 01/04/2009 Pros: Great Traction, I love the look, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I dog sled and other winter sports and have Solomon winter boots - love them! They are great traction yet light enough that I can run. These hiking shoes are a bit snug so I can only wear a thin sock, but I think they will work for me. I cannot stand for my feet to be wet so water resistant is important. I enjoy hiking and backpacking with my German shepherds and I never know what terrain we may encounter: swamp, hills and roots, dry land, stones. These hiking shoes will get me comfortably over all those terrains and more.

By laughing lisa from ramona, CA on 12/10/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Had just come home from a moderate to rugged terrain hike up and down the closest mountain--about 6.5 miles. Realized i was not going to eke out any more hikes from my trusty old boots. Lo and behold a Barn Burner special just that day presented these Salomon Symbio Pro Hiking Shoes.
Amazingly lightweight, cushy and comfortable out of the box. Wore them on the same mountain hike today, and my feet were rewarded by a completely different experience. Great cushioning inside, great traction outside, love those laces, and really like the added support provided by the adjustable ankle strap. i'm HARD on trail shoes, and these came home dirty but proving their durability. Great bargain for a light, oh so comfortable, and surprisingly durable trail shoe. Thank You!
By Cindy R from Kenosha, WI on 12/10/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: They are really nice, but the fit was just not as comfortable as the low ones. Rubbed on the back of the top of my ankle. Maybe they were just a little too big, I am not sure.
