By jwcwilly from SoCal on 07/03/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Summer just started so it will be a while before I wear it. From reading the reviews I thought it was going to run a little big. Rolled the dice and ordered a 44, that was the smallest size available in black, I was afraid I might swim in it. It fit perfect, both sleeve length and shoulder's. I am embarrassed to say how little I paid for such a quality product.
Genuine English Duffl Coat By D'Ártagnan from Perth Amboy, NJ on 04/14/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I definetely appreciate the good attention to details. Very good combed like wool, with the polyester blend which I was not happy about but it adds "support" to the wool. I still have to wear it with near zero temps. A zipper would be a nice addition and maybe inner wrist cuffs to add isolation from windy days; on a personal suggestion I guess. A great buy that I reccomend to anyone looking for a fine quality English Duffle Coat.

Nice with jeans or dress pants. Hood lies nice and flat.
Cannot say enough good about this coat By randoman from Fairfax, Virginia on 02/18/2009 Pros: Classic Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Warm Cons: Could have more pockets Best Uses: All round practical, Bad weathe, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I hate cold weather and this is the warmest coat that I can purchase and still wear to work with out looking like I work in Antartica. I an 6'2", 240 lbs. and XL works for me. I do think UK sizes are one ahead of US like their shoe sizes. Sierra exchanges are hassle free. I used to have a duffle coat for 15 ys and went one winter with out one, that was enough. 16 years ago I paid more for the same coat than I did for this and it is still manufactured in the UK - great bargain at Sierra.
Read review to learn why not 5 starts By Kevin Y from Minneapolis, MN on 02/11/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I selected this coat to replace one from Land's End. Land's End stopped selling their Duffel Coat so I searched a long time before I found one here. The things I like about this coat:
>> FIT <<
Others reviewing the coat found it too large for the size indicated. However, I'm a 44 regular and bought the 44 regular. It was a dead on fit. Sure, the selves are long but I WANT them long so that any glove I wear will slide INSIDE the sleeve. I live in Minnesota and walking my 1.6 miles to work in – 3 degrees C or F you don’t want exposed skin. The size leaves plenty of room for a sport coat, suit coat or sweater. I guess if you dress in layers for really cold you should buy the true size. If you need it for mild weather and don’t plan to wear a sport coat or sweater under it you should go a size smaller.
>> Warmth <<
This is a very warm comfortable coat. I work up a good lather when walking about for more than 15 minutes or so and this coat breathes nicely. The length is good to cover the bottom and front. The sleeves are perfect. (see FIT above) It is reasonably water resistant as I recently walked in a pretty wet snow fall and it beaded off without a problem.
>> Quality <<
After just a week wearing this coat it is clear it is well-made from quality materials and should last a long time.
>> Wish List <<
The Land’s End coat this replaced had a few features that I was disappointed were not on this coat:
1. Attached hood. This one detaches with buttons. I’d rather it be part of the jacket.
2. Side pockets in addition to the pouch pockets. In other words on the LE coat I could slide gloves or keys into an additional compartment in back of the pouch pocket accessible from the top.
3. Front zipper. The Land’s End coat had both the horn toggles with leather loops as well as a zipper. It seemed to keep the draft out better than just the toggles.
Overall I would buy this coat again.
By No More Wind-Chilled Legs from Cranston, RI, USA on 02/06/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat is very warm in windy cold New England conditions, even without a scarf. The hood is warm when used and the outside pockets are large enough to hold a lot. The inside pockets are smaller, but a classic duffel is not designed to be a substitute for an overcoat. Back and forth to inside pockets is not, in my opinion, a necessity for a coat like this which is for warmth above all. It also has the benefit of looking very good with the tartan lining. This is in my top 5 STP purchases list.
