Ready to go outta the box! By Bikenbeth from Benton, TN on 06/24/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, At The Gym, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I originally became interested in the XA Pro for Adventure Racing, but since then have found they are useful for many applications from the trail to the street. They fit my feet perfectly and need absolutely no break-in period. I do wish they had a much larger arch support or at least the option for one. It would also be beneficial if the sole were a bit wider for stability. Overall, they are a fantastic product and I continue to buy them year after year.

Better for trails and uneven running/walking rather than pavement. But great for everyday use!

By spookyflowers from Iowa on 06/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable Best Uses: At The Gym, Everyday Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Judt love that i don't have to break it in.
By mimi from rural Iowa on 05/04/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Stabilizes Foot Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are long and narrow for size 12's - which is exactly what I needed. If all of their shoes fit like this, I've found a new favorite. Soles don't have quite as much cushion as my New Balance tennies, but the cushion is denser, so quite adequate.
By agilgldns from mission viejo, ca on 01/20/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction Cons: Told that laces break Best Uses: Dog agility, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Compete every weekend, Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I LOVE SALOMONS and compete in them every weekend. I wear these non goretex for summer as they are nice and cool and save the Goretex Salomons for winter as they are waterproof and warm. They are so lightweight, yet are decent on support and the agressive tread is great for my dog agility runs on grass and dirt. My dog is fast and other shoes slip on the grass especially when wet and these shoes really grip well for the fast turns, accel/decel etc. They are slippery on wet pavement but I don't buy them for that surface. I overpronate and use orthotics and find that the xa pro has more support than the xa comp but I love both. I have not had the laces fail as some report but I have probably 8 pair and rotate them.
By Lin the hiker from los angeles, ca on 12/31/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In addition to wearing them when I go for a walk in town, I also hike with them frequently in the hills around here. No break-in needed and very comfortable, even for me. Sticky soles make it great for climbing up the sides of rocky hills.
The original insoles were adequate, but I replaced them after a few months to provide more support.
Flashy, fast, and foot friendly By widdly from South Africa/ Santa Cruz, CA on 12/20/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Molds to foot so nicely, wide enough for cushy socks and swelling due to activity. Overall great shoe.
Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoes [...] By vnooch from Santa Clara, CA on 12/17/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Not Water Resistant, Poor Cushioning Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great. I walk my 3 dogs everyday for a few miles on different terrain and it is a workout. The youngest tends to pull so these shoes were helpful in gripping the road/path.
I also use them for yard work and they are easy to clean, don't slip and very comfortable.
The only con is they are not cusioned so you may want a half size larger to accomodate bulky socks.
