By Carrie the Hiker from Northville, MI on 09/12/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Quick onoff, Stable, Stylish, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore these on a trip to Alaska. They performed perfectly. Great traction on rugged terrain, day hikes, and unpredictable weather conditions. Waterproof! The BOA system was new to me and I love it. It tightens in all the right ways. I have a wide foot and this boot was perfect. I wear an 8 in shoes and I ordered this boot in an 8.5 to accommodate a thick hiking sock and natural feet swelling during exercise. Go 1/2 size up unless you will be using them for moderate activity. This boot is 3/4 height so I didn't wear it for hard hikes on really rough terrain because I need a full boot with more ankle support. For day hikes on easy terrain, this boot is great! These boots are great for the airport, easy to take on and off very quickly because there are no laces thanks to the BOA. These boots are the only North Face shoes/boots that have fit me. Love them!
