Nice jacket but wrong style, sizing By Baba B from Boston on 11/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Can be compressed, Comfortable, Fabric lovely feel, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Cons: too short, Waist and hips too small, Would prefer parka length Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wish this general jacket style came in longer version, parka-length, with a slight flare to accomodate some tummy and hips--We are not all svelte and slender. Am still looking for similar, longer-length highly packable light-weight insulating layer.
By MB from The Gorge on 10/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I got this coat to be more of a camping, hiking type jacket. I had read the reviews that it was boxy, and they were right. It will be fine, and warm, and water repellent, just not stylish cute.
By Boose from San Diego, CA on 10/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The torso fit is great and the jacket is extremely lightweight (9.25 oz for size SM). Sleeves are a little long, but good for pulling over my hands. Can't discuss the warmth of it yet - it's still 70 degrees here - but it fits well over a light sweater.
By VA1174 from Virginia on 09/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this to be a pack-friendly layer for an upcoming trip. Great green color and very light weight. It's a nice fabric and very warm. Great alternative to fleece and packs very small - especially in a vacuum bag. Think it will be nice on its own in fall and under a shell in winter.
By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 09/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Oh, this is a great jacket. I just love primaloft. This jacket is so light and warm, I can't wait to wear it this fall. My only note is about sizing. I am about a size 8 and 5'-5", and I take a medium in a lot of jackets to allow for layering. I am really on the fence on this one! I bought the medium first, then the small in another color to try on, and I think I might keep both. The small is very cute and feminine looking, and it will get worn in the city over lighter shirts as the weather turns chilly. But its sleeve length is shorter, and it wouldn't have room for heavier layers underneath without the doughboy effect. The medium has space for layering and a more generous sleeve length for vigorous motion and hiking, but the cut doesn't look quite as flattering as that of the smaller size. Anyway, fit is a slight issue, and it may run a little larger than you expect, but it's an AWESOME jacket.
What you've been looking for. By Watermonkey from Carbondale, CO on 05/01/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great as a layer, or alone on those chilly spring/fall mornings. Lighter, warmer, and more comfortable than fleece. Fully wind proof. Layer this under a shell and you can go anywhere, anytime. Sleeves are a little short. Light, packs small, will be perfect for backpacking and peak bagging.
The lmost everything jacket By Wishing I wasn't in the office from Greater Washington DC on 03/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Insulated, Lightweight, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is amazing! It is very light so can be easily packed into nothing and doesn't weigh you down. It provides protection for drizzly and cold (but not feezing) weather.
Too short in the sleeves. By SconnieCoug from Pullman, WA on 01/25/2009 Best Uses: Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've got a larger chest, so as one reviewer found the jacket boxy, it worked well for me in that respect. However the sleeves were too short (I'm 5'8") and I returned the jacket.
lightweight and WAY too boxy By guelah papyrus from the woods, WI on 12/04/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket would be amazing - IF I were shaped like a box!! Not much of a feminine cut in this one. There is WAY too much room around the torso to insulate well. All that extra room also means it gets extremely bunched up when you try to layer it under a more weather-proof shell.
You might think my problems would be solved by ordering a size smaller. Alas, no. A size smaller means the sleeves are definitely too short and the coverage in the back is less than optimal.
I consider myself to be a pretty average smaller-sized lady at 5'5". So if this doesn't fit me well... I feel like a lot of women might find the same disappointments.
