By breeze-way from rural Montana on 12/22/2008 Pros: Durable, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wanted a soft shell with OPTIONS and a HOOD!
Most women's soft shell seem to be cut for fashion
ideals these days and are too slim fitting for
much insulation underneath: women's outerwear function suffers! I ordered an x-large for that
reason, a size up from usual. The jacket is now
big enough to accomadate thicker fleece midlayers.
I live in a very windy place and appreciate this
jacket.
Outdoor Research Intuition Jacket By heather from hooper, ne on 12/17/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Wet weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels too small Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this OR jacket! Usually I don't tend to like rain coats very much but this one is unique. It has a very feminine shape to it and flatters your shape more than most jackets do and is the main reason I'm keeping it. Also, it has a thin fleece lining inside and on the collar which is nice. It does run small however because I usually wear a size small in jackets but I ordered a medium and it fits perfect so order up a size. Very well made jacket and I'm sure it will hold up to lots of use. Highly recommend this jacket. I love Outdoor Research! Thanks STP!

Perfect for fall in Oregon By Sarah from Portland, OR on 11/07/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Large adjustable hood, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, nice style, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Daily wear in wet Oregon, Downhill Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Fits comfortably over light sweaters for daily wear in Portland's typical 40-50 degree wet season. Love the shaped elbows and large hood, which accommodates a bike helmet, but also adjusts in the back for normal wear so it doesn't fall over your eyes. Love the soft shell fabric, and the interior lining keeps it from feeling "sticky" like many rain jackets and adds warmth. If you're between sizes, order larger: the M is just large enough for a 36" bust and 39" hips, but not roomy. The powder skirt is probably too tight for me ever to use, but it snaps out anyway. Main hand pockets would be a little more comfortable for me if they were positioned slightly lower, but I have long arms. This jacket was a great deal and seems like it will last a long time.
By reiles from Colorado on 10/29/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a beautiful jacket! The pomegranate color is very pretty and feminine. It's water resistant and great for wearing in cold, wet weather (over under layers). I'm a petite person and the XS jacket fits well--including the sleeve length, which is usually too long for me in many jackets/coats. I wear this for day hiking and traveling.
By meganove from Seattle, WA on 10/21/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Pockets, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill, everyday, Freestyle Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels too small Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, rainy weather, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I absolutly love this jacket. It has a very very light fleece liner just to keep the sweat/moisture off of you. It really is just a shell but has strucutre to it. It is not the standard lightweight wrinklely, krinkely stuff. It is a heavy fabric that is definetely going to hold up, but not too heavy to be bulky. I wear it everyday to work in Seattle, and on the weekends in the 7,000 foot mountains. It does it all. The pomergrant color is gorgeous.
It has great pockets everywhere, pit zips, snow guard, and huge hood (that fits even with my hair in a ponytail). The hood and snow guard can be unzipped and taken off. This jacket really feels like a $250 jacket.
As far as fit goes, for my statue anyway.... at 5'4" the length is a bit longer than standard rain shells coming to mid hip, which I love. I am usually a Medium jacket no matter the brand, but in Outdoor Research I have found with my figure of 36,27,36, the hips are too tight in a medium, and the shoulders are perfect but no way a jacket is fitting under it. With the large, the hips fit and the shoulders have a bit more room but with a heavy weight fleece underneath its perfect with fit and movement. The sleeves with the large are a little bit long but that does not bother me.
Hands down, the best jacket I ever owned. Buy it.
