By sierra friend from western PA on 02/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm very pleased with this jacket. The medium is a tad large for me, but I wear layers in cold weather, so that won't be a problem. The color is lovely, and it's well made. Our severe winter weather has abated for a time, but I'm sure I'll have ample opportunities before spring arrives to stay warm and comfortable in this jacket.
By Kaatskills Kate from New York City, town and country on 02/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my third Steinbock. Can't beat the quality. Takes me through sub-zero upstate NY winters but well designed for city streets, too. Wear mine in Manhattan, and get compliments! Svelte lines, striking colors (iridescence brightens dull winter days). Lighter and warmer than standard-issue down. (because of intricate quilting) Good details: jacket zips, then closes on the side with good-looking toggles. Zip-off hood is handy but lies flat when not in use. Pockets zip. Neck is cut high and snug. Well-made: my older Steinbock's been worn hundreds of times, and dry-cleaned, all snaps and buttons are original and and it doesn't shed down. Purchased jacket this year, for commuting, good length getting in and out of cars. Fits closely but there's room to layer. One quibble: European design, zips and buttons from opposite side, takes some getting used to.
By from back East from New Jersey on 01/31/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Warm Cons: Fake inner pocket, Not Enough Pockets or Features Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I will wear when I want to look nice and be warm. I did not buy this to play in, but to wear in social and business situations.
By Alf's Girl from St. Paul, MN on 01/23/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Car travel, Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Shopping, Walking the dog Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a light and warm mid-thigh down jacket for my petite 5 ft height. Generous zipped outer pockets. Nice hood that is removable. Stylish for work or casual. The sleeves can be cuffed for customized length. I bought 2 sizes thinking I would return one. But liked it so well I ended up giving the smaller one to my daughter. She loves it! With the classic fit I needed the larger size.

I purchased it based on other reviews on the Sierra Trading Post website and I agree with other buyers: this coat is warm but breathable, stylish, and slightly fitted so you don't look like a polar bear! I highly recommend this coat.

By World Walker from New York on 12/23/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this jacket. Nice style details (trim, buttons, asymmetrical closing). It's a little boxy. More shaping through the waist would have been nice but it's extremely comfortable. My usual size is 16 but but prior experience with Steinbock was that they run a little small. The 18 fits perfectly. I would recommend ordering a size up.
By Must walk the dogs no matter how cold from Charlotte, NC on 12/23/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After a frigid trip to NY and equally cold weather in NC, I realized I needed a warm coat. I am very satisfied with my new Steinbock. I was afraid it would be bulky but it's not. I had wanted a black coat, but the tan is a wonderful neutral. I guessed correctly that European sizes aren't as generous as US so I ordered a size up and it fits perfectly.
