By RednekF350 from Waterford, NJ on 03/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Grip, Warm, Windproof Cons: Not Weatherproof, Sticky feeling fabric Best Uses: Backcountry, Good weather hunting Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Hunting, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I lost one of a pair of these type of gloves two weeks ago on a hike.
I bought the originals about 10 years ago at a big box sports store and was not able to find an exact replacement.
The Sierra Trading offering is the latest version of the original that I lost.
The only complaint is that the fabric has changed and is a "sticky" feeling nylon fabric that grabs the rough spots on your hands.
I like the original design and I am getting used to them already.
Don't do any wet type hunting with these, as they are not designed for it.
The zipper pouch for the hand warmers is a plus.
Not warn enough for hunting in the north By jim from Lansing MI on 02/07/2009 Pros: Dries Easily, Durable, Good Grip, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: being for hunting use
not quite what I expected By goose slayer from nj on 01/21/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good gloves, but not quite right for a duck blind. Probably better as a field glove and perhaps for cold weather fishing. They aren't at all water proof/resistant and not as warm as I'd like for a blind.
Excellent product; Excellent Buy By Steve from Jackson, TN on 01/20/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Warm, Windproof Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Hunting, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased the mitts to wear to the Tennesse Titans & Baltimore Ravens playoff game to keep my hands warm which they certainly did! My hands were cold during the regular season game against Pittsburg Steelers in Nashville and I was determined not the have cold hands during the playoff game. I will also use the mitts during the spring turkey hunting season as cold weather dictates. The gloves inside the mitts is a perfect combination for any activity. A definate recommended buy!

By C the gift giver from SW Missouri on 12/30/2008 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Farm use Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have bought these for a friend and he has had them for one week. He has been trying to find mittens locally but one size doesn't fit all and that was all he could find. I ordered these for him because they were XL. The size chart helped. He can get them on without too much effort and he loves them. He says they are very warm and teases me that I can't have the mittens back.
By Rower from Seattle WA on 12/29/2008 Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Awesome glove. I bought a pair of "glommits" (fingerless with a flip-back cover for covering the exposted fingers) from [...] for a hunt this year, they sucked and were expensive. This type of glove is essential for being able to get ready to shoot without having to take the glove off, as you would with a normal glove. My friend had a pair of Jacobs; I got a pair after trying them. They allow you to easily "pull" your fingers back into the glove to warm them. This is a major problem I've had with other gloves of this type. If this type of glove fits too tight at the knuckle, it's very difficult to get them off or pull the fingers back in. This happened to me this year, I was about to take a shot at an elk and my hands were freezing so I had to spend a bunch of time trying to get the glommitts off. Nice features of the Jacob's glove include:A liner over the fingers instead of having them bare. If you wanted to have them bare you could cut off the liners. The pocket for chemical hand warmer. I haven't used this yet, but it would be very handy to keep a chem pack in the pocket and if you were getting ready for a shot and your hand was cold, just activate the pack to warm up. It would also be a great place to keep a small ballistics card for reference, or a lens cleaning cloth, etc. It's a warm glove and not too tight, not too loose. The price is a steal. One disadvantage is the magnet that holds the glove back out of the way. All the glove manufacturers started using magnets; this could be bad news if you are trying to use a compass or GPS with magnetic compass. Although usually I just use this glove on my trigger hand and a conventional finger glove on my off hand. So I make sure and use the compass with my off hand and keep it away from the magnet.
