Watch out for sizing
By KayVerified Reviewer from Anchorage, Alaska on 07/31/2009
Pros:

Cons:
Size not true
Best Uses:
Day hikes, Wet Weather
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
Sizing:
Feels half size too big
Width:
Feels true to width
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
It is unfortunate that Sierra has not changed their sizing guideline for this shoe. I had read reviews that it ran large, but decided to stick to Sierra's sizing guideline when I ordered. I usually wear a 8.5, even in my other Salomon shoes, but this shoe was nearly a full size too big. I ended up getting an 8, but I almost wish I had gone with a 7.5. The lacing system pulls quickly, but does not allow for fine tune adjustment for an optimal fit (something I hadn't considered about this lace system prior to purchase). I am still having a difficult time with my right heel slipping. Arch support is modest, but I have a high arch. Tread is meaty. Sole lends well to trail work. It is a bit stiff for running, but I may need to give it a bit more break in time.

Comments:
According to the rave reviews, I thought I was getting something great, and perhaps my hopes were too high. I felt like I was running in tap shoes on the pavement leading to the trail, and once on the trail the enormous toe box left my feet swimming resulting in a less than stable run. The waterproof held well for only half my run (it had just rained) but on a dry day when I wore them, that same feature felt almost too hot. Maybe I have yet to really break them in and discover their charms, but so far I am not impressed. I'd rather stick to my road Mizunos and have wet feet sooner.

I've had several pairs of Salomons and I love them. They wear great, and I've found all of them true to size. I've recommended them to several people.

Comments:
I pet sit and board dogs for a living. I was looking for shoes that were good for street walking as well as light trail hiking. They also needed to be waterproof. I already own two other pairs of Salomons and the fit has been good. The fast lace up system is convenient. I've been breaking in this pair for the last 9 days. My feet have stayed dry. However, these have aggravated my bunions. They are also very slippery on some metal plates that I come across when walking on the sidewalks.

So comfy and sturdy -- I was impressed. It's hard to find a comfortable fit in a hiking shoe without all the "bulk." This is the one! :-)

I travel a lot to out of the way places where it can be rough terrain or slippery ruins. I have Salomon's that are for hot dry weather that do the same good job. Only complaint is that they are a bit heavy.

I use it for trail running only. It is a comfortable shoe, it is actually my second pair. My last pair I have converted into a hiking shoe for easier hikes.

Well I love Salomon shoes period. But, after having bought my most recent pair of these, I found that the shoe size changed a bit. Runs a bit large on my now. However, these are great for anyone who is looking for a versatile shoe. I can wear these on long backcountry bike rides, trail runs, hikes, and even around town. Highly recommended. Give them a bit to break in. Cheers

Comments:
I just received these shoes and haven't had a chance to wear them yet. These will be my first pair of Salomon's. The other reviews I read were saying that it was kind of small but mine felt a half or whole size larger. I had to re-order. I like the look although the toe part looks a tad bit big and somewhat bulky for some reason. Other than that the shoe is very comfy, I like the overall look and I love the company!
