And, it literally did boil water in 60 seconds. One of the best things about it though is the teflon coating. I burned some food on it during a backpacking trip and with a little soap and h20, the charred bits came right off. The stove was easy to light, had lots of great options (pan, windscreen, etc.), and all in all was an excellent stove.

By Abby in CT from CT on 03/30/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks like a great stove - but as I misunderstood the fuel (wanted a white gas & kerosene stove) I returned it and exchanged it for a primus stove and then got some MSR pots and Primus fuel bottle.
It scares me how much my bills say I have saved buying from Sierra TP over the years!
By MikePA from Kennett Square, PA on 03/12/2009 Pros: Compact, Fast Start, Light, stable Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, Day Trips, Familygroup use, River, Trips, Winter Camping Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am very pleased with this stove. With children around, it was the size and stability that attracted me first. The speed of cooking is an additional advantage, too, though, when there are hungry youngsters to cater for. The manufacturer was also responsive in fielding a query regarding cleaning techniques: for the record, scourers suitable for non-stick surfaces and dishwasher are both OK. (Please note that my comments regarding compactness and lightness should be read in the context of the unit's capacity and stability, it is certainly not a minimalist piece of equipment.)
By CG from Tulsa, OK on 03/12/2009 Pros: Durable, Fast Start, Very energy efficient Best Uses: Campgrounds, River, Winter Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: With the included pot, this stove gives the fastest boils I have ever seen. In my backyard tests (air temp 70 deg, water temp 50 deg, wind 20 mph) it brought a quart of water to full, rolling boil in 2 min 40 sec. It also starts effortlessly with the built-in igniter, simmers well and will operate with the cartridge inverted for cold weather use.
I have tried it MSR and Snow Peak cartridges and it works fine.
The downside is you need hand protection to manage the included, handless lid or to switch to any pot larger than the wind screen. Going from boiling water for your morning coffee to frying some eggs in a 10" fry pan requires shutting the stove off, folding down the hot pot supports, removing the wind screen, folding the supports up and restarting the stove. I also found it hard to balance a fry pan on the supports because of the handle weight. I will remove the handle from a pan to use with this stove - or go with boiled eggs.
The stove and pot are too heavy and bulky for backpacking, but will be excellent for winter camping with a pulk - fast for melting snow, easy to use with gloves, and BPL has found it has very low CO emmissions for use in a tent. I will also use it car camping with a small car and maybe canoe camping if there are few portages.
By Deer Hunter3 from Derby City, KY on 03/01/2009 Pros: Compact, Durable, Fast Start, Light Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, Group cooking, Trips, Winter Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For the size (it is bigger than a Jetboil Personal or MSR Reactor) it offers much more flexability at not much more weight. Extremely fast to boil water and using the skillet to keep heat in the pot helps in colder environs. I'm very pleased.

The burner is powerful and efficient... because you can invert the canister you'll be able to use the last drop of fuel AND at low temperatures that would cause the upright canister stove designs to fail. You can't go wrong at this price! Images shared by: WallDiver7Indian Gardens, Grand Canyon at 20F Tags: Picture of Product
By lars from santa cruz ca on 01/28/2009 Pros: Fast Start, Versitile Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a jetboil and bought this stove to accommodate larger groups and larger meals. The jury is still out as to whether it will be my go to stove in most cases since it is heavy and a bit bulky. But it is a good performer and I am hoping it doesn't get sent back.
